Seek Jesus!

... Read moreThat profound statement, "Jesus sat with sinners, didn't sin with them," has always resonated deeply with me. It’s a core principle that I believe is often misunderstood, yet it's so vital for us to grasp in our daily walk. When I first encountered this idea, I admit I struggled with it. How do you engage with people who are living in ways that go against your beliefs without compromising your own convictions? It felt like a tightrope walk. But as I've chewed on it, I've come to understand that this isn’t about being aloof or judgmental. "Sitting with sinners" speaks to Jesus's incredible compassion, His willingness to cross social barriers, and His radical love for everyone, regardless of their past or present choices. He wasn't afraid to be in uncomfortable spaces, to share meals, and to truly see people. For me, this means extending genuine kindness and friendship to everyone I meet, not just those who share my worldview. It’s about being present, listening, and showing God's love through my actions. Then comes the second part: "didn't sin with them." This is the crucial difference, and it's where the discernment comes in. It doesn't mean we approve of or participate in activities that go against our faith. Instead, it highlights the importance of maintaining our integrity and convictions while still loving others. Jesus never condoned sin, but He always loved the sinner. He called people to repentance, not with condemnation, but with an offer of grace and a new way of life. For me, this looks like setting healthy boundaries, being firm but gentle in my convictions, and letting my life be a quiet testimony rather than a loud sermon. It’s about knowing when to speak and when to simply be a loving presence. This principle has completely reshaped how I think about outreach and my interactions in the world. It’s not about isolating ourselves in spiritual bubbles, fearing contamination. It’s about confidently stepping into the world, rooted in our faith, and bringing light into dark places. It’s a call to be both compassionate and wise, to love fiercely while standing firm in truth. This balance isn't always easy, but it’s the path Jesus modeled for us, and it’s a beautiful way to live out our faith authentically.
