everything happens for a reason

I'm now 8 months clean and sober!

sober minds remember all the people and things we have lost alone the way

I miss having a family

I miss having someone to go to bed with at the end of a rough day and knowing it was all worth it knowing at the end everything will be okay.

I miss my puppy dogs

I miss coming home and seeing there tails wag cause there happy to see me.

I miss companionship

I miss love

I miss being loved

I miss the look on my kids face when daddy was holding them

STARTING OVER is shitty when there is no chic by your side lol

For many, the process of sobriety is paired with feelings of loss and nostalgia, especially for the relationships and moments we once cherished. The desire for companionship often resurfaces during challenging times, as we reflect on the closeness we once had with family and friends. As we navigate through recovery, it's essential to acknowledge these emotions rather than suppress them; doing so can be instrumental in understanding what we've truly lost and what we still value in our lives. Community support, whether through groups or therapy, plays a critical role in the healing process. Engaging with others who have similar experiences can provide solace, peace, and the realignment of one’s emotional landscape. Additionally, embracing new relationships, even platonic ones, can help fill the void left by past companionship. Each day marks a step towards rebuilding our lives, fostering connections that uplift us, and recognizing that, although we've faced significant losses, we still have the capacity to love and be loved again. Sobriety is not simply about abstaining from substances; it's a holistic approach to achieving emotional stability and finding the joy in everyday life, no matter how small. Ultimately, every experience happens for a reason, guiding us towards a more profound understanding of ourselves and our needs.
