the worst 24-hours in my life
Friday Dec. 6th. Rocky is my horse. He was perfect for me when i rode him. The first photo is him before i got on and js put the saddle on him. Abt an hour or two before everything happened. We were walking back to untack i was not on him, this is when it was dark. He is usually good in the dark. We were walking by a house that was close to the arena that we js walked out of. The people at the house had some friends over and one of them probably said something funny and they all corrupted and laughter. Rocky, he bolted i couldn’t stop him i tried but i had to let go of him. So he took off. i was riding with a friend but she wasn’t done riding so i yell and said “CAN U HELP ME PLEASE!?!?” and i ran back to him. Before i got to him he was running in circles around the barn and ran into the fence and made that huge dent. So all i knew was that he fell somewhere and somehow. Bc all i heard was galloping footsteps and then it was silent. I thought he had stopped, and then I heard more footsteps that were galloping. When i got back to the barn he was running around his four stall thing that was by the turn out. I thought he would just go in his stall, but he went around to his besties/bf stall behind it, which is right next to his. and then I caught him because then he stopped. But then I saw that his bridal was broken and so I brought him to where we tack up and stuff. And I saw his eye his eyelid was cut, and then I saw his mouth bleeding. The worst thing that was bleeding was his eye and it wasn’t that bad. But my saddle is like perfect condition not even touched. When I took off his saddle, I saw the cut on his hip and scratched up hocks. And the person I was riding with she got down there after I caught him, and I started having a panic attack. And she’s an ex equine vet so she looked at his eye and mouth and said his eye will need sutures which are stitches. And then she got a glimpse of his tongue because he like opened it for a second and she didn’t think it was that bad and there wasn’t really any blood coming from that. So I called my vet and said my horse took off and cut his eyelid in his tongue and fell somewhere. So then she showed up like a few minutes later like 40 she was at another call. and she said his eye will need sutures and fix him up and then she like cleaned up his scratches and stuff and then we got to the tongue that was 3/4 of the way cut. We had to use the thing that you prop open mouths with and he needed sutures there too, so she stitched him up and stuff. It took three doses to make him really sleepy and then we got our goodie bag of medicines and I was at the barn since like 4:40 to 11. So we put them back up and install then he has to be on a soft food diet. He’s really mad about that. but he’s doing OK.
Sat. Dec. 7th. The 24 hour a bit better I went to watch a play, but then on the way back home, there was a drunk driver. He was close to us a bit when we first saw him then he sped up and started swerving. He hit the median twice like the first time it looked like he was about to flip his truck. And it was so close to hitting a few other people and then we called 911. It was me and my mom in the car and then I started having another panic attack. During my panic attack my mom sped up to get his license plate. While on the phone with 911. And then he slowed down to like a stop. He didn’t hit on his break. He just slowed down. It was terrifying because I thought he was gonna get out but he didn’t. He just started going again. Then a little bit later like or more he gets off the freeway and then hits the fence going down to the stop light and he looked like he was about to get back on the freeway, but he didn’t. And that’s all we know right now. Then I just broke down crying. Because of all the stress I have because of Rocky everything else. But I didn’t get hurt through any of this so I’m OK just shook up. So if you all can pray for me, please and rocky too 🙏.
