Fudgy Praline Topped Brownies
These fudgy brownies topped with homemade pralines are rich, gooey, and full of Southern flavor. I make desserts like this at home because it’s cheaper than bakery brownies, and I can control how sweet and decadent they are. The praline topping melts into the brownie layer and gives that buttery pecan crunch that makes every bite feel homemade and nostalgic.
Brownie Ingredients:
* 1 cup unsalted butter
* 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
* ¾ cup brown sugar
* 4 large eggs
* 1 tbsp vanilla extract
* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* ½ tsp salt
* ½ tsp baking powder
* 1 cup pecans (optional)
Praline Topping Ingredients:
* 1 can evaporated milk (12 oz)
* 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
* ½ stick butter
* 1 tbsp dulce de leche
* 2 tbsp pure vanilla extract
* 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
2. Melt butter, then mix in granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth.
3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisk until glossy.
4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Mix until just combined.
5. Pour batter into pan and bake for 25–30 minutes. Let cool completely.
6. For pralines, in a heavy-bottom pan over medium-high heat, combine evaporated milk, sugar, butter, and dulce de leche. Stir until well combined.
7. Once bubbling, cook for about 13 minutes, stirring consistently.
8. At the 12-minute mark, add vanilla extract and pecans. Stir for 1 minute.
9. Turn off heat and stir for about 6 minutes until thick and spoonable.
10. Spoon praline mixture over cooled brownies.(pre slice brownies)
I love mine extra fudgy with a thick praline layer on top. Next time I’d add espresso powder to the brownies for a deeper chocolate flavor or sprinkle flaky sea salt on top for balance.
