Tomato horn worm curse
My pool is next to my garden. While swimming laps this morning, I noticed SEVERAL horn worms eating my tomato vines. Horn worms will quickly strip all the leaves off a tomato plants. Without leaves, the plant will die. Today I did something a bit different. Normally, I pull the worms off and kill them. If my chickens are around, I will feed them the worms, otherwise, I just smash them. Before stepping on a worm, I named it after an enemy. I targeted people who have used me, taken advantage of me, or worn out their welcome. I think this spell works best on people that have taken too much. I named the horn worm, said they would never take from me again, then squished the worm under my boot. I had more horn worms than enemies, so I named some people more than once.

Companion planting with herbs like basil or marigolds may also reduce horn worm infestations by deterring the pests. The unique approach of naming horn worms after adversaries, as described, serves as a personal and symbolic ritual for managing garden pests and emotional stress. While this method does not affect the horn worms biologically, it can provide gardeners with a sense of empowerment over both their garden and personal challenges.
