You can watch fishing boats come and go, browse the unique local shops for souvenirs, or pop into one of the art galleries. There’s a wonderful, laid-back vibe that makes you want to linger. I found some really charming coastal-themed gifts there. For breathtaking views, make sure to drive just a little north or south along Highway 101. Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint offers dramatic vistas of the rugged coastline, and if you’re lucky, you might spot more whales or even sea lions. Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint is another fantastic stop, perfect for a picnic or just soaking in the expansive Pacific. And don't forget the iconic Spouting Horn in Depoe Bay itself – especially at high tide, it's a spectacle as waves crash into underwater caves, sending plumes of water high into the air. It’s Mother Nature’s own water show! If you love exploring marine life, tide pooling is a fantastic activity. Head to areas like Otter Rock (just a short drive south) during low tide, and you’ll discover a vibrant ecosystem of starfish, anemones, crabs, and other fascinating creatures in the rocky pools. Just remember to always observe without disturbing and wear appropriate footwear. And after all that exploring, you'll definitely work up an appetite! Depoe Bay boasts some amazing seafood restaurants where you can enjoy fresh catches with stunning ocean views. There's nothing quite like enjoying a delicious meal while watching the waves roll in.
