“That Girl” Apps Reviewed

So, I finally got a new job after all these years of working nightshift; and I finally decided to try and get my life a little more together now that I won’t have to be up all night and in bed all day anymore. So I figured, I’d do another app review full of random apps that I’ve either seen ads for; or found by chance. And considering my last App post did really well, let’s get another one I guess LMAO.

So let’s get the longer reviews going.

💌 THAT GIRL:

Honestly it doesn’t matter how good this app is or isn’t, the fact that there’s not even an option to see what you would get before you hand over your credit card details after making you go through 5+ minutes of questionnaires is a little insulting. Kind of like the “well you’re already here and spent time filling out all this information so, can I have money please 🥺🥺”. Also the AI feature is… definitely something. Their reviews are also a little whacky, such as someone saying something like “The subscription costs less than a meal!” When the subscription I was offered was like, 30+ dollars for a year and 8 something a week.

✨ One Perfect Day:

Didn’t make me take as long as “That Girl” did with the questions, at least. Also felt way less gendered. However; the program it offered didn’t seem very tailored. The question it asked me about “house versus apartment” I said I wanted to live on the road just to see if it would make a difference, the planning sounded far more tailored to buying a house or renting rather than van/motorhome life. I also, couldn’t access any content without another paywall, which I didn’t bother to even check cause “That Girl” already got me irritated.

⭐️Medito:

Now THIS one is good. It has things for everyone from beginners to more seasoned meditation. And the best part is it’s all free. It really reminded me of PBS Kids donation buffers between shows so, that’s where the joke for the rating came from lmao.

🫶 Alo Wellness Club:

I don’t actually own anything by this brand, but this app is really nice. I’m not sure if it’s entirely free or not but most of the things I saw were, I’m also guessing they have some sort of VIP program based on purchase history like VS does (or at least Did a few years ago). I haven’t used this app yet for real but so far it looks promising.

💙 1 Giant Mind & Mindfulness:

I lumped these two together since they’re both pretty minimalist and I didn’t test these much beyond a few days at best. Both of them to my knowledge are completely free, And 1 Giant Mind is a guided program for meditation where they hold your hand into it. I did the first 4 days a few months ago and when I went to re-open it a week after forgetting to finish it reset my progress, for some reason. Mindfulness was a little more confusing, and a little bit ugly not gonna lie. Felt more like one of those websites turned into apps rather than an App itself.

☯️ Joy:

Now this one is a little weird compared to the regular “self help motivation wellness” app genre. There’s a lot more spirituality involved, which I like. There’s chakra work, element related work, tarot reading, along with basic features like mood tracking and journaling. They also have paid oracle services at the bottom under “offerings” which, I do my own divination so I won’t be using those. There are paid options full of curated spiritual journeys but for what it is; I think it functions just fine as the free option.

🧽 Sweepy:

So, I actually really like this one. Mostly because it used to remind me of what cleaning needed done and when, because I forget A LOT. However, at some point it just stopped sending me notifications? I don’t really know why, I was on the app logging everything and keeping it all updated and one day it just stopped, and I forgot to fix it so in the app’s terms I’m way behind now. But for what it’s supposed to do; it works. There’s some sort of paid option where you can add your entire family, I think, but I don’t need all that. There’s also a paid option for using “cleaning schedules” so you can remember exactly what you need to do what day if you’re interested. I’d recommend you give this one a try if you need help remembering what you need to do.

... Read moreHaving tried various wellness and productivity apps myself, I totally understand the mixed feelings around "That Girl" and similar platforms. What stood out to me is how important transparent pricing and a taste of the experience before payment are—nothing kills motivation faster than a surprise paywall after investing time in questionnaires. Apps like Medito offer a refreshing alternative by providing completely free guided meditations without ads, which really helps build a consistent mindfulness habit without stress. I’ve also found that minimalist meditation apps can be helpful for beginners, but they often lack engaging features, so it’s great to see multiple options like 1 Giant Mind for structured courses. In terms of planning apps like One Perfect Day, I’ve personally needed tools that accommodate unconventional living situations too—in my case, working remotely while traveling. Unfortunately, many planners still focus on traditional setups like houses or apartments, so flexibility is key when choosing an app. For staying on top of chores, Sweepy’s reminder system is a lifesaver—though I faced the same issue where notifications stopped unexpectedly. Setting a backup reminder system on my phone helped me avoid falling behind. Paid options for family scheduling could be worth it if you’re managing multiple people’s tasks. Lastly, spiritual and self-help apps like Joy add a unique dimension with features such as chakra work and tarot, which can be great if you enjoy that holistic approach. However, I always recommend trying the free features thoroughly before investing in premium content. Overall, my advice when exploring wellness or productivity apps is to look for those with trial periods or free tiers to test functionality and see if they fit your lifestyle. It’s all about finding the right balance between features, cost, and how well the app supports your personal growth journey.

So, for all the people reading this: don’t ask me why the graphic for the “Joy” app is blank because I wrote a BUNCH of stuff for it. App is rage baiting me for real.
