3 formas de saber si un aguacate está listo

One simple method I rely on is feeling the firmness—gently press the avocado near the top, avoiding the stem area. A ripe avocado will yield slightly under gentle pressure but shouldn’t feel mushy. Another key indicator is color. Avocados typically darken as they ripen, especially varieties like Hass. When the skin turns from bright green to almost black, it’s a good sign the fruit inside is creamy and ready. Finally, checking the stem is a helpful trick I learned: try to remove the small stem at the top. If it comes off easily and you see green underneath, the avocado is ripe. If it’s brown, the avocado might be overripe; if the stem doesn’t come off easily, it needs more time. When I buy avocados, I often pick a mix of ripe ones and firmer ones if I won’t use them immediately, allowing some to ripen at home. Storing avocados that are close to ripe in the fridge slows down the ripening process, helping keep them fresh a bit longer. Combining these tips has helped me reduce waste and enjoy perfectly ripe avocados more often.
