You’ve seen in us the best. You’ve seen in us the worst. You’ve given great advice and always put your babies first. So many times you held our hands, dried our tears, listened to our favorite bands. Scolded us when we needed but never let go of our hands. And now as time fades, weddings come and go, babies age… You still hold on and now to their sweet little hands, listening to continued wishes and plans. God gave me a mother and I’m blessed with her so… But god knew something that I didn’t know. That I needed another (or two or three). What a blessing to have all these ladies with me, Who’ve never neglected to lend me they’re ear. And just like them for me, I’ll always be there.

Reflecting on the deep emotional bond shared with mothers and close friends, I realize how these relationships shape our lives. Mothers provide not just care, but a foundation of unconditional love and guidance that stays with us through every milestone, from childhood to adulthood. Friends, especially those who become like family, extend this support, listening patiently and offering a comforting presence during both joys and challenges. Experiencing this dual support system reminds me of the importance of gratitude and reciprocity in relationships. Just as my mother held my hand through tears and celebrations, my closest friends have been there to lend an ear and offer advice when I needed it most. Life’s inevitable changes—weddings, children growing up, and plans evolving—can test these bonds, yet they often deepen the connection when nurtured with care. This poem beautifully captures the essence of these enduring relationships. It also highlights how blessings come in many forms, sometimes unexpectedly, like the 'another (or two or three)' people who become family through love and support. This sense of chosen family creates a powerful network that anchors us amidst life’s uncertainties. In my experience, embracing and appreciating these bonds has enriched my life tremendously. Taking time to recognize the everyday acts of love and presence—holding hands, shared music interests, or heartfelt conversations—helps us appreciate the people who truly matter. This reminder encourages all of us to cherish our mothers and best friends, for they often represent the pillars of strength and unconditional love that guide us through life’s journey.
