Cuban Shack in Brooklyn
Took the family for Cuban food in Brooklyn the other day. This spot was a little hole in the wall that had modern Cuban food. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich which had bbq jackfruit. My children had the chicken plate, and my husband ordered the Cuban sandwich. Everything was favorable and the prices were reasonable. Altogether we paid $70. Visit my yelp for a full review.

Visiting Cuban Shack in Brooklyn was a delightful experience for our family, especially because it offers a fresh take on Cuban cuisine that appeals to both traditional and modern palates. What struck me the most was their vegetarian sandwich featuring slow-cooked BBQ jackfruit—a fantastic alternative for those seeking a plant-based option without missing out on hearty flavors. The jackfruit had a smoky, tangy profile typical of Cuban BBQ, complemented perfectly by swiss cheese and fresh sautéed onions, served on authentic Cuban bread with crispy potato sticks. As someone who appreciates authentic ethnic cuisine, I found the menu at Cuban Shack impressively diverse: from slow-cooked pork (pan con lechon) to marinated ribeye steak sandwiches, each sandwich is paired thoughtfully with plantain chips, which added a crunchy, sweet contrast. The children enjoyed the chicken plate, complete with white rice, black beans, and sweet plantains—a classic Cuban meal that was both comforting and flavorful. What makes Cuban Shack stand out is not just the food but the experience of a cozy, unpretentious 'hole in the wall' atmosphere that gives you a sense of discovering a local secret. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, with the whole family’s meal costing around $70. The menu also includes tempting sides like loaded yucca fries topped with your choice of pork, chicken, or jackfruit and creamy white queso sauce. For beverage lovers, their signature cocktails like the Cuban and frozen drinks offer a refreshing complement to the rich and savory dishes. Don’t miss the classic Cuban coffee options such as cortadito and café con leche which round out the meal nicely. If you’re exploring Brooklyn and craving Cuban food with a modern twist, Cuban Shack is definitely worth a visit. It offers a genuine taste of Cuban culinary traditions while welcoming everyone from vegetarians to meat lovers. Whether for a casual family dinner or a unique foodie outing, this spot offers a memorable and satisfying meal.
