Our little garden✨

Happy September! I am loving my tiny garden! Definitely learning from my mistakes (it’s my first year) but trying to research what needs done in the fall/spring for next year so I can get ahead this time. We lost a few veggie plants along the way, but we have more cherry tomatoes than we know what to do with -suggestions welcome! Also trying out some perennial flowers in the raised bed for funsies. I’ve been looking for little green house covers so tips for getting ready for winter are welcome as well! #fyp #sahm #garden #DIY #diygarden

... Read moreStarting a garden, especially your first one, is a rewarding yet learning-intensive journey. From the garden update, it's clear that managing cherry tomatoes can become a fun challenge since they often produce abundantly and tend to climb. Installing a lattice, as mentioned, is an excellent idea to support the tomato plants and keep them healthy. You might consider harvesting the excess tomatoes to make homemade sauces, salsas, or even sun-dried tomatoes. Sharing or donating extra produce can also be fulfilling. Transitioning into fall and winter, it’s crucial to prepare your garden correctly to ensure plants survive and thrive next year. Greenhouse covers or row covers will protect your delicate plants from frost and help retain moisture. Look for breathable materials that allow light while providing insulation. The idea of a potting station is great for organization and makes gardening more enjoyable. Introducing perennials in your raised beds is a smart move. Unlike annuals, perennials return each year, reducing the need for replanting while adding consistent beauty. The purple perennial flowers you're trying out could become a charming focal point and attract pollinators. Also, relocating certain vegetable plants may be necessary to optimize space and sun exposure. Don't hesitate to learn from mistakes; every gardener goes through this. Keeping a garden journal to track what works and what doesn't can help next year’s planning. Engaging with gardening communities online or local groups can offer valuable tips tailored to your climate and soil conditions. Overall, your tiny garden is shaping up to be a delightful, fruitful space full of life and learning!
