Daily Devotional: Joy in Every Circumstance
Paul and Silas were not in a place anyone would choose. They had been beaten, falsely accused, and thrown into prison; chains on their feet, wounds on their backs, and uncertainty ahead of them. Yet, instead of complaining or questioning God, they chose to worship.
At midnight, the darkest hour, they lifted their voices in prayer and praise.
This kind of joy doesn't come from comfortable circumstances; it comes from a confident trust in God.
Paul understood something powerful: his situation did not change who God is. Even in chains, God was still worthy of praise.
Joy, then, is not the absence of hardship; it is the presence of God in the middle of it.
When we fix our hearts on Him rather than our situation, joy becomes possible.
Even in pain.
Even in waiting.
Even in uncertainty.
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience." - James 1:2-3
Today, whatever you are facing, choose worship over worry. Like Paul, lift your voice; even if it feels unnatural. Joy is often a decision before it becomes a feeling.
"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!" - Philippians 4:4
True joy is not found in freedom from hardship, but in nearness to God within it.
