My review of Vichy Soleil Mineral Sunscreen

I needed a new sunscreen on the fly since I ran out of the one I usually use and grabbed this. It has SPF 60 which I appreciate and is lightweight, no white cast and water resistant for up to 80 minutes. Cons are I didn’t like the smell and there was buildup near my creases but that could be because I got ahead of myself and didn’t shake it before using it.

Many mineral sunscreens can leave you looking ghostly, so hearing about a 'sheer tint' was a huge relief! This broad-spectrum SPF 60 formula is designed to be 'ultra-lightweight,' and I found that to be true. It glides on smoothly, and its 'powdery texture' gives it a matte finish, which is great if you have oily skin or prefer a less dewy look. The water resistance for up to 80 minutes is also a major plus, making it suitable for active days or quick dips. Just remember, 'water resistant' doesn't mean waterproof, so reapplication after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating is crucial to maintain protection. However, it's not without its quirks. The most noticeable one for me, and also highlighted by the OCR, is the 'chemical, almost plastic smell.' It's not pleasant, but thankfully, it fades pretty quickly after application. If you’re sensitive to scents, this is definitely something to consider. My other concern was the 'buildup near creases,' especially around my nose and under my eyes. If you have dry skin, make sure to moisturize well beforehand, as the powdery finish could accentuate dry patches. For those who prioritize a high SPF mineral option that avoids a strong white cast and offers good water resistance, and don't mind a bit of blending effort and a temporary scent, then this Vichy Capital Soleil Mineral Sunscreen SPF 60 could be a great pick for your summer body routine. It's a solid 3/5 for me – good protection and finish, but with a couple of application nuances to master!
