My ballerina 🩰 nails

Hey everyone! So many of you loved my recent ballerina nails post, and I wanted to dive a little deeper into how you can achieve this gorgeous, elegant look yourself. It’s truly one of my favorite nail shapes, bringing a touch of sophistication and grace to any outfit. First things first, what exactly are ballerina nails? Imagine a ballet slipper – that’s pretty much the inspiration! They're essentially a coffin shape, but with softer, more rounded edges, giving them a less aggressive and more delicate appeal. They're long, slim, and taper towards the tip, which is then filed flat. This creates a beautifully elongated look for your fingers, making them appear slender and elegant. If you're tired of traditional square or almond shapes, the ballerina nail is a fantastic, chic alternative that's super trendy right now. Now, let's talk about getting that perfect shape. While it might seem intimidating, with a good nail file and a little patience, you can totally DIY this! Start with Length: Ballerina nails truly shine on longer nails. If yours aren't quite there, consider growing them out or using tips. Taper the Sides: Gently file the side walls of your nail, moving inwards towards the center of the tip. You want a gradual slope, not a sharp angle. Think of it like creating a soft 'V' shape towards the end. Flatten the Tip: Once you have your tapered sides, file the very tip of your nail straight across. This creates that iconic flat edge. Make sure it's even and not too wide or too narrow. Take your time, filing little by little, checking your progress from different angles. For my look, I used Beetles gel polish in 'Barely Pink,' and I can't recommend it enough! It’s the most beautiful, subtle nude pink that perfectly complements the ballerina shape. It gives that 'your nails but better' vibe, which is exactly what I was going for with my 'ballerina-core' and 'coquette' aesthetic. If you're into 'mikimika nude' or 'auriii love' shades, 'Barely Pink' is right up that alley – a truly delicate and understated color that screams elegance. But don't limit yourself to just nude pinks! While these soft, natural tones are classic for ballerina nails, you can absolutely play with other delicate pastels. Think soft creams, light lavenders, or even a 'baby blue' if you want to channel that whimsical, dreamy vibe while keeping it chic. The key is to maintain that delicate, refined feel that ballerina nails are known for. To finish off my look and make it last, I always use a good gel top coat and cure it under my LED lamp. This adds incredible shine and protects my manicure from chips, keeping it flawless for weeks. Trust me, once you try ballerina nails, especially with a beautiful gel polish like 'Barely Pink', you'll be hooked! It's a game-changer for sophisticated nail art.
