A SALAMANDER RAP SONG?!?
The word was “Axolotl” as in the rare salamander and this is what I came up with 😂 let me know your thoughts! Suggest a word! #songs #songwriter #songwriting #singersongwriter #musicoflemon8 #singersoflemon8 #axolotl #femalerapper
Hey fellow music lovers! You know how sometimes the most unexpected things can spark the coolest creative ideas? For me, it was the humble, yet utterly fascinating, axolotl! As a songwriter, I'm always looking for quirky inspiration, and trust me, these aquatic wonders are full of it. If you're a musician or songwriter looking for fresh ideas, don't limit yourself to typical themes. Animals like axolotls and other salamanders can be incredible muses! Think about their unique characteristics: axolotls staying in their larval state (neoteny) can inspire themes of eternal youth, innocence, or even feeling stuck in a phase of life. Their incredible regenerative abilities could fuel powerful lyrics about resilience, healing, and overcoming obstacles. Imagine the flowing rhythms inspired by their aquatic habitats, or the quirky melodies reflecting their distinctive appearance. Different 'breeds' or types of salamanders, with their varied colors, sizes, and behaviors, offer a whole palette of ideas for different musical genres – from a mysterious ballad about a cave salamander to a vibrant pop song about a fire salamander. It’s all about observing and letting your imagination run wild! My process for this axolotl rap involved really digging into what makes them unique, and then finding creative ways to weave that into a narrative. Sometimes, the best songs come from pushing 'the edge' of your creative comfort zone and exploring unconventional subjects. Don't be afraid to use vivid, even blunt, imagery to paint a picture with your words. For instance, in my rap, I borrowed from common idioms and observations to describe a tricky character, like being 'sneaky as a snake on the forest floor,' or 'slimy as an [eel] on the coast.' I even used phrases like 'just a lot of wolf in some sheep's clothes' to convey deception, and the feeling of annoyance with lines like 'as crusty as the edges on some burnt toast' or 'as uptight as a wedgie.' These kinds of descriptive lines make a song memorable and relatable, even when the subject is as unusual as an axolotl. Rap music, in particular, is fantastic for this kind of lyrical storytelling. It allows for intricate wordplay, rhythm, and the freedom to tackle almost any topic with a unique perspective. Choosing an unusual subject like an axolotl not only makes your work stand out but also challenges you to think creatively about language and metaphor. It’s a great way to engage listeners with something they haven't heard before, adding a layer of surprise and intrigue to your artistic expression. So, if you're ever feeling a creative block, look around you. Pick an object, an animal, or even a random word and challenge yourself to write a song about it. Who knows, you might just stumble upon your next viral hit! What's the most unusual thing that has ever inspired your creativity?
