Hey beauties! So you've seen my GRWM on tackling the cut-crease, especially with those tricky hooded or droopy eyelids. Trust me, if you're struggling, you're not alone! It was a long journey for me to truly master A CutCrease! that actually looked good and didn't disappear when I opened my eyes. But I promised to share my learnings, so let's dive a bit deeper into making this stunning look work for you. First off, let's talk about the essentials. You don't need a million products, but a few key tools make all the difference. A good, opaque concealer (or a dedicated eye primer) is non-negotiable for creating that sharp, clean line. I prefer a full-coverage, slightly tacky concealer in a lighter shade than my foundation. For brushes, a small, flat concealer brush is crucial for precise application of your 'cut' line, and a fluffy blending brush for diffusing the shadow above the crease. Don't forget your chosen eyeshadows – usually a light, shimmery shade for the lid and a deeper matte shade for the crease definition. My biggest breakthrough moment came when I stopped trying to follow tutorials meant for different eye shapes. For hooded eyes, the key is to create your cut-crease above your natural crease, where your lid folds. This way, when your eyes are open, the 'cut' is still visible. I usually start by looking straight ahead into a mirror, then using the flat brush with concealer to dot where I want my new, higher crease line to be. Then, I connect those dots, forming an arch. Don't worry if it looks messy at first, that's what practice is for! Once you have your desired shape, carefully fill in the area below the new crease line with concealer. This creates a clean base for your lid color. Pat a light, shimmery eyeshadow directly onto this concealer base – this is where your lid will 'pop'. Above your new crease line, use a deeper matte shade and a fluffy brush to blend it upwards, creating depth and a seamless transition. This is where you really define your eye shape. A common mistake I made was going too heavy with the crease color right away. Start with a little product and build it up. Blending is your best friend here! Another tip: if your hooded lid tends to smudge your carefully placed shimmer, try setting it lightly with a translucent powder or a matching matte shadow before applying your glitter or shimmers. And remember, perfecting A CutCrease! takes time and patience. Don't get discouraged if your first few attempts aren't perfect. Keep experimenting with placement, products, and brushes. Every time you practice, you'll learn something new about your unique eye shape. Embrace the journey, because when you finally nail it, that feeling of accomplishment is unbeatable!
