Illumicrate December Box

Oh my gosh, I just had to share my excitement about the Illumicrate December 'Ride or Die' box! As a huge fan of book box subscriptions, Illumicrate always delivers, and this one was no exception. For those new to the world of book boxes, Illumicrate is a fantastic UK-based subscription service that sends out a brand new, exclusive hardback release, plus a selection of gorgeous, themed bookish goodies every month (or bi-monthly, depending on the box!). They're known for their stunning special editions with unique covers, sprayed edges, and exclusive artwork, making them truly collector's items. This month's 'Ride or Die' theme really piqued my interest, and everything inside felt perfectly curated. The star of the show, of course, was the featured book: 'Hamajang Luck' by Makana Yamamoto. I've been hearing whispers about this author and was really eager to get my hands on this particular story. The Illumicrate edition is absolutely breathtaking – the custom cover design and those vibrant sprayed edges are just *chef's kiss*! Without giving too much away, I know 'Hamajang Luck' is described as a thrilling adventure rooted in Hawaiian folklore, promising a unique blend of magic, culture, and high stakes. Makana Yamamoto's storytelling is supposed to be incredibly immersive, and I can't wait to dive into this world she's created. It's exactly the kind of transportive read I look for in a fantasy novel, and getting such a beautiful edition makes the reading experience even more special. Beyond the book, the box was packed with so many cute and functional items that tie into the 'Ride or Die' theme. One of my absolute favorites has to be the 2025 calendar with artwork by @POLARTS – it's stunning and will look perfect on my desk, keeping me organized throughout the year while also showcasing beautiful art. There were also other fantastic goodies, like a uniquely designed bookmark, a cozy literary-themed item perfect for snuggling up with a new book, and another practical item that I can definitely see myself using daily. Each piece felt high quality and thoughtfully designed, truly enhancing the overall bookish experience. Overall, my December Illumicrate box was a massive hit! It perfectly combined a highly anticipated special edition book by Makana Yamamoto with a collection of charming, useful items. If you're looking for a book box that consistently delivers on quality, aesthetics, and introduces you to incredible new reads, I honestly can't recommend Illumicrate enough. It’s such a treat to unbox every month, and this 'Ride or Die' theme certainly lived up to its promise of adventure and excitement!
