Twisted by Emily McIntire (Dark Romance)

I don't know what it is exactly but I seem to always have a difficult time getting through the first half or so of Emily McIntires books. This one was especially hard I just did not want to pick it up. None of the twists surprised me and the one with ||Aiden|| I wish had more time spent on it. The end while more enjoyable for me felt rushed. I am defiantly going to be taking a break from the series before starting the next one

"People only have the power you allow them to have."

"For the people pleasers. Sometimes, it’s okay to be a little selfish."

"Don’t you know yet, gattina? I would do anything for you. Burn this life down to the ground and build a whole new world if you demanded it."

-Age Gap

-Forced Marriage

-Enemies to Lovers

... Read moreWhen diving into a new book, the cover is often the first thing that catches my eye, especially with the captivating aesthetic of the 'Never After Series.' For Emily McIntire's 'Twisted,' the book cover absolutely embodies the dark romance genre it promises. It features a striking, dark design with what looks like shattered glass and subtle light effects, immediately drawing you into a world that hints at danger, brokenness, and intense emotion. This visual storytelling is so crucial; it sets the stage even before you read the first word, inviting you to wonder what kind of twisted journey awaits. Looking at the cover, I immediately felt the tension and intrigue that are hallmarks of a complex romance. The shattered glass could symbolize broken trust, fractured relationships, or even the characters themselves being shattered before finding each other. This visual cue perfectly aligns with the core tropes mentioned in the review: 'Forced Marriage,' 'Enemies to Lovers,' and 'Age Gap.' Each of these tropes inherently involves conflict, power dynamics, and often a journey from animosity to affection, mirroring the fragmented yet compelling imagery of the cover. Beyond the main focus of the novel itself, I also appreciate how book covers, and even the surrounding decor, contribute to the overall reading experience. In one of the images, you can see a decorative sign that reads 'Book Review' and 'SERIOUSLY DON'T MAKE ME FLIP MY Witch Switch,' alongside a small straw broom and a pumpkin-shaped ceramic container. While these are background elements, they add a cozy, slightly witchy vibe that many readers, myself included, enjoy when immersing themselves in a darker fantasy or romance. It’s like setting the perfect mood for a spooky, yet romantic, read. For a book spanning 374 pages, a compelling cover needs to sustain that initial interest, and 'Twisted' definitely achieves that. For anyone searching for 'Twisted Emily McIntire cover' or 'Twisted Emily McIntire book cover,' I’d say the artwork is a true reflection of the story’s darker, more intense themes. It's designed to attract fans of edgy romance who are prepared for morally gray characters and challenging relationship dynamics. The aesthetic alone makes it a conversation starter, and it definitely delivers on its promise of a visually rich and thematically dark read. It’s a great example of how a cover can be more than just a pretty picture—it's a portal into the story itself, beckoning you to explore its depths and unravel its secrets.
