Book Review
My Funny Demon Valentine by Aurora Ascher (Paranormal Romance)
This was a fun read! I enjoyed the whole thing, plenty of spice throughout the whole book. The multiple POV's was really interesting (not just FMC and MMC) I am curious how the rest of the series goes and finding more out about this world. I really enjoyed how Eva's mom just went with it and just her personality, I hope to see her in other books as well.
"If you want a real relationship, it has to be built on trust. If the foundation is weak, the structure will fall."
"Conscious beings evolve. That’s how the universe works. You’re born, you fuck shit up, you learn your lesson, you evolve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a human, animal, or even a plant. "

My Funny Demon Valentine truly stands out in the paranormal romance genre thanks to its clever use of multiple points of view, which provides readers with a more complex understanding of the characters and their motivations. From my experience, this approach adds depth and variety that keeps the story dynamic and engaging. Not only do the protagonists share their perspectives, but secondary characters also contribute, enriching the narrative. One aspect I particularly liked was the depiction of trust as the foundation of a relationship—a theme highlighted by the quote, "If you want a real relationship, it has to be built on trust. If the foundation is weak, the structure will fall." This resonates strongly in both romantic and personal growth contexts. Another standout concept is the idea of conscious beings evolving through their experiences, emphasizing that everyone makes mistakes but grows from them, which adds a philosophical layer to the story. The characters like Eva’s mom brought humor and a relatable personality to the novel, making the world feel lived-in and real. The blend of the grumpy and sunshine tropes among characters creates tension and warmth, which kept me invested in their journeys. Besides the romantic plot, the found family theme adds emotional depth, building connections beyond romance alone. For readers interested in paranormal romance with spicy elements and engaging character dynamics, this book is a worthy pick. The world-building hints at a larger universe, and I’m curious to continue with the series to uncover more about the lore and relationships. If you enjoy stories that mix humor, complex relationships, and supernatural intrigue, My Funny Demon Valentine is likely to delight you as much as it did me.
