Book Review
Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews (Urban Fantasy)
So I didn't really like the miscommunication at the beginning, but at least it didn't seem like it lasted too long. I really like that we got to learn more about Kate's family and her potential. I'm enjoying getting different mythology in each book, this time being about Babylon.

4/5stars
Reading Magic Bleeds felt like a refreshing journey into an urban fantasy universe that skillfully blends ancient mythology with contemporary storytelling. One aspect that really resonated with me was the author’s choice to weave Babylonian mythology into the plot—it's a unique twist that adds depth and intrigue beyond typical fantasy tropes. Kate, the protagonist, stands out as a well-crafted, sassy female main character who balances toughness with vulnerability. Her journey to understand her hidden heritage and potential creates an emotional connection that kept me engaged throughout the book. The found family element also provides warmth and complexity, showing that relationships forged by choice can be as powerful as those by blood. What I appreciated most was the way the novel explores the tension between magic and technology, a theme increasingly relevant in many fantasy settings but done here with originality. It reflects modern conflicts between tradition and innovation, making the story relatable and thought-provoking. Though I found the initial miscommunication frustrating, it was brief and didn't detract significantly from the enjoyment. The slow-burn romance added a layer of anticipation without overwhelming the main storyline. Overall, Magic Bleeds is a compelling read for anyone who enjoys urban fantasy with rich mythology, strong characters, and thoughtful themes. I highly recommend giving this book a chance if you love stories that combine adventure, family, and magic.
