The Most Underrated Family Spot in Desaru! 🦫🦙✨
What I thought would be a simple petting farm turned out to be one of the best family experiences in Desaru! 🥹
If you’re visiting Desaru with kids, make sure to add Desaru Mini Zoo to your itinerary.
✨ The first thing that impressed us was how clean the place was!
Many animal parks can be crowded or have strong animal smells, but this zoo is very well-maintained and comfortable to walk around. Perfect for families with young children.
The variety of animals was also a pleasant surprise!
🦙 Alpacas
🦫 Capybaras
🦝 Raccoons
🐑 Sheep and goats
🦤 Ostriches
🦜 Many unique and colorful birds
The best part? The interactive experience!
Kids can hand-feed the animals and get up close with them, making it both fun and educational.
There are also extra activities such as:
🎠 Pony rides
🎣 Fish scooping games
🐟 You can even bring the fish you catch home!
My little one had so much fun and didn’t want to leave! 🤣
The staff were incredibly friendly and patient, teaching children how to interact gently with the animals and even helping us take photos.

If you're planning a visit to Desaru Mini Zoo, here are some tips from my personal experience to make the most out of your trip. Start your day early to avoid the afternoon heat and enjoy the peaceful stroll around the zoo. Since tickets are quite affordable—RM30 for adults and RM20 for kids—it's a budget-friendly outing. One thing I found super helpful was buying the RM20 animal feed basket before going in; it kept my little ones excited throughout our visit as they loved hand-feeding the friendly alpacas, capybaras, and goats. The interactive activities like fish scooping and pony rides add extra fun, and kids can even bring home the fish they catch! The staff were friendly and patient, offering guidance on how to gently interact with the animals, which really made the experience safe and enjoyable for kids. There’s also plenty of nearby seafood restaurants if you want to grab a meal after your visit. Overall, spending 2–3 hours here was the perfect amount of time for kids to learn and play without feeling rushed.
