Way too cold
Texas ain’t supposed to be this cold
Having lived in Texas for several years, I can definitely attest that this recent cold snap is nothing short of surprising. Texas is widely known for its warm climate, so when the temperature drops like this, it really feels out of place. It’s interesting to observe how pets, especially dogs, seem utterly unfazed by the cold—one might say they’re living their best lives despite the chilly weather. In my experience, such cold spells in Texas catch many off guard, since homes and infrastructure aren’t typically equipped for prolonged freezing temperatures. This means you have to get creative with staying warm—layering clothes, using extra blankets, and sometimes even cooking extra meals to generate warmth. The sudden cold also affects daily routines; it’s not uncommon to see people bundled up in heavy coats, hats, and gloves, something that would be rare for a regular Texas winter. Outdoor activities become less appealing, but it’s refreshing to witness the community coming together to help vulnerable neighbors stay warm. While the cold can be a challenge, there’s a unique charm to these rare Texas winter days. They remind us that climate can be unpredictable and encourages us to adapt and appreciate the quiet beauty of a colder season in a state better known for sunshine and heat.
