Youth Corps Leadership Programme (YCLP) - Peace & Protection + Appreciation 💛✨

Our YCLP squad from SSH teamed up with friends across RP schools to connect with our migrant brothers—sharing tips on scam prevention 🛡️ and navigating conflicts 🤝

We kicked things off with fun icebreakers, followed by interactive carnival games 🎪 where everyone picked up practical skills while having a great time. From learning to spot scams to discovering what makes Singapore’s local dishes so special 🍜, it was all about bonding through culture and conversations.

We wrapped up the day with a simple yet meaningful lunch 🍱, exchanging handwritten appreciation cards 💌—a small gesture that meant so much.

Grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the #GreaterImpact made together 💫

... Read moreParticipating in initiatives like the Youth Corps Leadership Programme (YCLP) truly opens your eyes to the value of community connection and cultural exchange. During one of our recent sessions, our squad collaborated with fellow students from various RP schools to engage migrant brothers in Singapore, focusing on themes of peace, protection, and mutual respect. The session started with energising icebreaker activities designed to break down barriers and build trust among participants. These initial moments were crucial in creating an open atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable sharing and learning together. Following this, we hosted a carnival-style set of games that were not only fun but carefully crafted to teach practical skills, such as scam prevention and conflict navigation—important areas that help protect our migrant friends from common challenges. An unforgettable part of the day was exploring Singapore’s local dishes, which sparked conversations about culture and heritage, enriching our understanding of the diverse backgrounds represented in our community. Sharing food proved to be a powerful bonding experience, complemented by a simple yet heartwarming lunch where personal appreciation cards were exchanged. These handwritten notes expressed gratitude and recognition for each other’s efforts and kindness, and this small gesture made a significant emotional impact. What stood out the most throughout the programme was the sense of gratitude and respect that blossomed as we connected over shared experiences and learning. The appreciation cards symbolised more than words; they reflected genuine human connection and the importance of acknowledging each individual’s story and contribution. Through participating in YCLP, I gained firsthand insight into how targeted educational activities combined with sincere outreach can empower young leaders and migrant communities alike. It reinforced the idea that building peace and protection is a collective endeavor requiring empathy, awareness, and active involvement. I highly encourage others to engage in similar service learning opportunities to foster inclusivity and create a greater impact within our society.
