This helps create flaky layers as the cold butter melts during baking, releasing steam. I usually cube my butter and toss it back into the fridge while I prepare the dough. When mixing, don’t overwork the dough—just combine until it holds together. Overmixing can lead to tough biscuits instead of soft, tender ones. Another trick I’ve learned is to fold the dough a couple of times before cutting out the biscuits. This layering technique really helps build that light texture. Using a sharp biscuit cutter and pressing straight down (without twisting) results in well-risen edges. Baking time is crucial too. I preheat my oven well and bake until the tops are golden brown, which usually takes about 12 to 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C). Right after pulling them out, brushing the tops with melted butter elevates the flavor and keeps them moist. Personally, I like pairing these biscuits with honey or a bit of homemade jam for breakfast, but they also complement savory dishes perfectly.
