Cooking for One

Cooking for myself is how I slow down. A small ritual, a soft kind of love. I find myself cooking only when I’m cooking for others. I’ll eat whatever or not eat at all. I decided to intentionally cook for myself again. Self love is the best love 💕

One of my favorite go-to recipes includes crispy garlic n herb potatoes paired with brown sugar carrots and lemon pepper wings — flavors that are both satisfying and easy to prepare. I find that focusing on simple, fresh ingredients helps me enjoy the process more. For instance, roasting the potatoes with fresh garlic and mixed herbs until they're perfectly crispy brings out a comforting aroma that fills the kitchen. The brown sugar carrots add a subtle sweetness and color that brighten the plate while complementing the savory, zesty lemon pepper wings. If you’re cooking for one, take the opportunity to personalize your seasonings or try new flavor combinations without worrying about anyone else’s preferences. Plus, cooking smaller quantities means less waste and more flexibility. Whether it’s a quiet weeknight dinner or a weekend treat, this small ritual lets me slow down and appreciate my own company. I encourage anyone cooking solo to embrace this time as a moment of soft kindness toward themselves, making each meal not just food, but a soothing experience.
