as a crow
this is a random poem i wrote the other day while day dreaming of what it would be like to live as my favorite bird. i’ve always loved crows and ravens (corvids in general really). they’re spooky little beauties. i hope if reincarnation is real that i get to be a bird one day.
Writing 'As a Crow' was truly a journey into imagination, stemming from a lifelong fascination with these incredible birds. There's just something about corvids – their enigmatic presence and startling intelligence – that makes them stand out. When I picture myself as a crow, I always imagine those striking black feathers and onyx eyes, soaring freely with an unmatched sense of awareness. One of the lines in my poem speaks to 'collecting shiny things,' and it’s a trait often associated with crows. While movies and stories might exaggerate a crow's treasure hoard, it's rooted in their genuine curiosity. They are attracted to novelty and unusual objects. For me, this isn't just about physical trinkets; it’s a beautiful metaphor for how we can navigate life. Imagine 'collecting' moments of joy, fragments of wisdom, or interesting observations, much like a crow might pick up a sparkling pebble. It’s about finding value and beauty in what others might overlook, adding a unique richness to our own existence. That sense of curiosity and finding joy in small discoveries really resonates with the idea of 'living with ease.' Beyond their curious nature, crows hold deep symbolic meanings across cultures, often linked to wisdom, mystery, and even the supernatural. People often search for crow meanings or their connection to crow witchcraft. They are frequently seen as messengers between worlds or symbols of transformation. When I wrote about 'befriending death,' it wasn't about literal demise, but rather an acceptance of life's cycles, an embracing of change, and a fearless approach to the unknown. Crows seem to embody this, existing in a realm where they are both wild and intelligent, observant and adaptable. They navigate their environment with a profound understanding, often spying through trees with keen eyes, always aware of their surroundings. Many wonder how do I befriend a crow or simply observe them more closely. While earning a crow's trust takes patience and respect, simply watching them can be incredibly rewarding. Their social structures, problem-solving skills, and even their ability to recognize individual humans are truly remarkable. They teach us to be alert, resourceful, and to appreciate the intricate details of nature. Perhaps the wisdom of be like a crow quote encourages us to embrace intelligence, adaptability, and a certain boldness in our own lives, urging us to look beyond the obvious. Observing them flying through the cold with such grace and resilience always inspires me. Ultimately, my poem is an invitation to explore these qualities and to see the world through a different lens—one with black feathers and onyx eyes. It’s about more than just being a bird; it’s about embodying a spirit of freedom, intelligence, and a deep, intuitive connection to the world around us. What insights do you gain from watching these amazing creatures? I hope this poem sparks your own daydreams and reflections on the mysterious and beautiful world of crows.
