new moon as a witch 🧙‍♀️

as most of yall know by now, i celebrate the new moon every month particularly in honor of hekate and the witchy part of myself !! these are some of the things i did today. i focused more on cleansing in preparation for the month ahead instead of doing anything super ritualistic, although i do still plan on leaving out some of the fresh bread i baked with fruit as always. hope yall had a great day, blessed be 🖤 #witch #newmoon #newmoonritual #hekate #witchcraft

... Read moreHey fellow moon enthusiasts! You know how much I love celebrating the new moon, and a huge part of that for me is setting up or refreshing my new moon altar. It’s truly a sacred space where I connect with my intentions and honor deities like Hekate. Since we're always looking for ways to make our practices more personal and potent, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what goes into creating a powerful New Moon altar, especially focused on cleansing and preparation, which is so crucial for a fresh start! For me, the new moon altar isn't just a pretty display; it's a focal point for manifesting new beginnings. Just like I mentioned about deep cleaning my space, think of your altar as the heart of your home's spiritual energy. Before the new moon hits, I always dedicate time to thorough altar reorganization. This isn't just tidying up; it's about consciously removing old energies and making space for the new. I find that a good house cleansing with sage around the altar area, or even a spritz of Florida Water, really sets the tone. You want that sacred space to feel crisp and ready for your intentions. So, what do I actually put on my new moon altar? Well, for honoring Hekate, I often include keys, symbols of crossroads, and dark candles. I also love to incorporate elements that represent my intentions for the cycle ahead. This could be a small bowl of fresh water for emotional clarity, some seeds to symbolize growth, or a journal to write down my aspirations. Crystals are a must – black tourmaline or obsidian for protection, selenite for cleansing, and moonstone to enhance intuition. And of course, making offerings is a beautiful way to connect. Remember that fresh bread I baked? A small piece always finds its way onto my altar as a heartfelt offering. It’s such a simple yet powerful act of gratitude and connection. I draw a lot of inspiration from the vibrant energy of places like Crescent City, where conjure traditions blend beautifully with personal practice. Imagining a little witch cat cutout on my altar always makes me smile and reminds me of the playful yet powerful spirit of my craft. For the new moon, especially when focusing on cleansing and letting go, I might add specific herbs like rosemary or rue. If I’m planning a crossroads ritual, I'll even place a small token or a symbolic representation of the crossroads on my altar as a reminder of guidance and choice. Ultimately, your new moon altar should resonate with *you*. There's no single right way. It's about creating a space where you feel empowered to set intentions, release what no longer serves you, and align with the potent energy of the new moon. Whether it's a grand display or just a candle and a crystal on your nightstand, make it yours. Happy manifesting!
