Yorkie life ❤️❤️❤️

Living with a Yorkshire Terrier is truly an adventure, and if you're like me, you've probably wondered about all the quirks that come with this tiny package! My own little furball, Wicket (who often goes by "Boo Boo" around the house, despite his protests!), is a perfect example of the vibrant 'Yorkie life' you hear so much about. They might be small, but their personalities are anything but! One of the biggest questions I get is about their personality: are Yorkies friendly dogs? In my experience, absolutely! While they can sometimes be a bit reserved with strangers at first, once they warm up, they're incredibly loyal and loving. They often see themselves as much bigger than they are, which can lead to some hilarious interactions with larger dogs (and sometimes, even people!). Wicket, for instance, has a bold streak, and it’s part of his charm. They're intelligent, curious, and definitely have a sassy side that keeps life interesting. When it comes to affection, Yorkies are masters! Do Yorkies like to cuddle? Oh, yes, many of them adore it. Wicket is a champion snuggler, especially when it's cold or he just wants to be close. Yorkshire terriers show affection in so many ways: from following you around the house like a shadow, to eagerly greeting you at the door with excited wiggles, or even just resting their head on your lap while you work. They thrive on human companionship and will often seek out physical closeness, whether it's a gentle lick, a nudge of their head, or simply curling up next to you on the sofa. If your Yorkie is showing these affectionate behaviors, you know you’re doing something right! So, how do you make a Yorkie happy? It's all about attention, play, and consistency. Regular playtime with toys, short walks (even in the backyard), and mental stimulation through training or puzzle toys are key. They love being involved in family activities. Consistency in routine helps them feel secure, and of course, a healthy diet and regular vet check-ups are essential. For Wicket, a happy day involves a good morning walk, some spirited tug-of-war, and plenty of lap time in the evening. While they're full of love and personality, it's also good to understand a few 'pros and cons.' On the 'pro' side, their portable size makes them great travel companions, they're often quite clean, and their intelligence makes them fun to train. The 'con' side can sometimes be their vocal tendencies (they're often good watchdogs!), their delicate size (requiring careful handling), and their strong will, which means training needs to be consistent and positive. But honestly, for me, the immense joy and companionship Wicket brings far outweigh any minor challenges. Embracing the full 'yorkie life' means appreciating all these wonderful traits, even the ones that make them a little 'extra' sometimes!
