No more bro splits
I’ve been doing this style of training for about a year now. Basically legs & arms twice a week and chest, back & shoulders twice a week.
I feel better, see better results and have so much more time for work and relationships now. I was a bit nervous to scale back from 5-6 days of training to 4 but it works!
Switching from traditional bro splits to a more balanced training schedule has been a game changer for me. Instead of isolating one muscle group per day, training legs & arms together twice a week and chest, back & shoulders twice a week offers better muscle recovery and growth. This method increases training frequency per muscle group, which science supports for optimal hypertrophy. At first, I worried that reducing gym days from 5-6 to just 4 might reduce gains. But surprisingly, with smarter workout planning and adequate rest, my strength improved and muscle definition became more noticeable. This schedule also frees up significant time, allowing me to focus on work and personal relationships without sacrificing fitness progress. Incorporating compound lifts on appendage-focused days has further boosted my workout efficiency, hitting multiple muscles in one session. This approach is especially helpful for those balancing busy lives but wanting to maintain or improve their physique. Overall, training smarter rather than longer with options like this has proven beneficial, reducing burnout and keeping motivation high.
