I had planned to announce it right away… but life had two surprises in store: a hip fracture that sidelined me from running, and a heart loop recorder implant.
Most of you know about the hip. What most of you don’t know is that I’ve been dealing with heart issues for the past year. After three Holter monitors with no answers, the loop recorder was the next step to track what’s happening 24/7.
So instead of making my big announcement this summer, I spent it aqua jogging, rehabbing, and working my *ss off just to get cleared to run again.
And now that I finally am, I can share it: I’m running my first marathon — the 2026 London Marathon 🏃♀️🇬🇧. I’ll be running with the British Heart Foundation, because this one’s personal. ❤️
My goal is to raise £10,000 (~$15,000) to fund research that saves lives. Every donation counts, and every bit of support will help carry me through 26.2 miles.
I’ll be sharing updates over the next 6 months as I train.
From aqua jogger → comeback runner → marathoner. Here we go!
... Read moreTraining for a marathon after significant health challenges, including a hip fracture and heart monitoring via a loop recorder, is an inspiring journey that involves both physical and mental resilience. The use of a heart loop recorder is a crucial step for individuals with unexplained heart symptoms, as it continuously records heart rhythms over an extended period to detect irregularities that short-term monitors may miss. This technology plays an essential role in identifying arrhythmias or other cardiac conditions, enabling tailored treatment plans and safer preparation for intense physical activities like marathon running.
Recovering from a hip fracture requires careful rehabilitation, often incorporating low-impact exercises such as aqua jogging to maintain cardiovascular fitness without putting stress on the injured joint. Aqua jogging helps preserve strength and endurance while minimizing the risk of re-injury. Combining this with gradual running reintroduction supports safe return to high-impact training.
The London Marathon is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and charitable spirit, providing an excellent platform for runners to raise funds and awareness for causes close to their hearts. Training plans typically involve incremental mileage increases, cross-training, strength conditioning, and proper nutrition, all vital for preparing to complete the 26.2 miles safely.
Supporting organizations like the British Heart Foundation through fundraising not only helps advance vital heart research but also connects runners with a supportive community dedicated to improving cardiovascular health outcomes. Sharing regular training updates can foster motivation and inspire others facing health obstacles to pursue their own fitness goals.
This journey underscores the importance of perseverance, medical guidance, and community support in overcoming personal health hurdles and achieving ambitious fitness milestones like a marathon.
