My very late August reading wrap up ✨

Okay, so I know my August reading wrap-up is super late, but better late than never when you've got so many amazing reads to share, right? I managed to fit in a whopping 14 books, and honestly, some of these are still living rent-free in my head. Let's kick things off with one that really stood out: 'Run Like Hell' by Eira Brand. This one was a fantastic Queer Sci-Fi/Horror blend that kept me on the edge of my seat. If you’re looking for a book summary that promises intense action, unique world-building, and characters you’ll root for, seriously check this out. Brand's storytelling is just captivating, making you feel every tense moment. It’s definitely not a light read, but so, so rewarding if you love a good thriller with a unique twist. Speaking of drama and thrillers, 'Night Will Find You' by Julia Heaberlin was another standout that delivered big time on suspense. It's a gripping thriller that unfolds beautifully, perfect for anyone craving a compelling mystery. And for a different kind of drama, the emotional depth in 'Say You'll Remember Me' by Abby Jimenez, a contemporary romance, was just beautiful. Jimenez always knows how to pull at the heartstrings, and this one was no exception. There was plenty of drama balanced with heartfelt moments that made it a truly memorable read. My August pile also included a fair share of romance, both contemporary and historical, and even some with a queer bent! 'Gwen & Art Are Not In Love' by Lex Croucher brought the fun with a Queer Medieval Romance – truly a fresh take on the genre. Then there was 'That Summer Feeling' by Bridget Morrissey, another lovely Queer Romance that felt so authentic. For a more traditional, yet equally charming, romance, 'For The Record' by Emma Lord and 'It's A Love Story' by Annabel Monaghan were delightful. Each offered unique perspectives on love and relationships, with just enough drama to keep things interesting without being overwhelming. And for those who love to escape into other worlds, I dove into some amazing fantasy! 'Moon Called' by Patricia Briggs is an Urban Fantasy classic that never disappoints – seriously, if you haven't read her Mercy Thompson series, you're missing out. And 'A Vile Season' by David Ferraro, a YA Queer Fantasy Romance, was an exciting new discovery, blending adventure with a sweet romance. Reading so many books in a month means you really get a feel for what works and what doesn't. My biggest tip for anyone trying to hit their reading goals? Don't be afraid to DNF (did not finish) a book that isn't working for you. There are too many amazing stories out there to waste time on one you're not enjoying.
