When did you start to feel like yourself again?✨
#letschat Moms when did you begin to feel like yourself again after you had your baby? I know this is different for everyone! Some sooner, some later. My baby just turned one & I’ll say around 11 months until now, I’ve begun to feel like myself again. But not the old me, I’ve felt like I’ve bloomed into a new maturity & mindset. I’ve grown into my new role as a mom and the life changes it has brought❤️
I’ve found peace and happiness being a mom MY WAY! You will always have advice, opinions, & yes, even judgment but as a mom you have to do what’s best for you & your family, and once I’ve accepted that it’s not my job to make everyone else happy except my family, I was able to shift my energy on bringing love to our household and putting my energy towards raising my baby and being a good partner to my man💕
I’ve begun to love my body again! I think this one was one of the hardest for me. I was not happy with my body after birth. I was always a tiny girl and gaining almost 30 pounds towards the end of my pregnancy was not fun. However, once I realized the wonderful thing my body did, I gave myself some grace & began to put work into my fitness & health journey. & I took my time. I let my body heal and lose weight with exercises that worked for me! It’s been an amazing journey seeing how powerful the women's body is ❤️
Finally, as a family, we are big on spending time together. I know couples need their alone time, which we do get BUT since we found out we were pregnant we always said we wanted our baby to have experiences. “Don’t y'all want to go to the beach alone?” Yes, but why can’t she tag along? As a mom and former teacher, I always look for opportunities where I think my baby can learn & yes she can learn from just simply going out the eat. So yes, we love our baby tagging along with us. She doesn’t ruin it at all, if anything she has given us more memories ❤️🥰

The journey to feel back to yourself during postpartum/motherhood is truly unique for every mom, and it’s a marathon, not a sprint. I remember feeling so lost in the early months, wondering if the "old me" would ever return. What I’ve learned is that it’s not about going back, but evolving into an even stronger, more resilient version of yourself. Finding that peace and happiness being a mom while also nurturing your individual identity is a delicate balance, but it's absolutely attainable. One of the biggest shifts for me was truly accepting my new reality. Before baby, my days were my own. Afterwards, every moment felt dictated by tiny hands. It took me a while to realize that instead of fighting against this new rhythm, I could embrace it and find moments for myself within it. This meant letting go of the need for perfection and learning to delegate or, sometimes, just let things go. I started carving out small, consistent times for things that made me feel like *me*, even if it was just 15 minutes of reading a book or enjoying a cup of coffee in silence. It wasn't about grand gestures, but about honoring those small desires. Then there was the body image struggle. Oh, how universal that feels! I spent so long looking in the mirror and not recognizing the person staring back. The phrase "loving the body I'm in" felt so distant. But slowly, I shifted my focus from what my body wasn't anymore to what it had done and *could still do*. Working on my body & health WHILE loving the body I'm in became my mantra. I started with gentle walks, then finding quick, effective home workouts that fit into nap times. It wasn't about drastic weight loss but about feeling strong, energetic, and respecting the incredible feat my body had accomplished. Celebrating each small gain, like being able to carry my baby with more ease or having more stamina throughout the day, really helped rebuild my confidence. It's an ongoing process, and some days are harder than others, but grace and patience are key. Another aspect of finding yourself again after motherhood is rediscovering or redefining your relationships and social life. It's easy to become isolated in the mom bubble. For me, it meant actively seeking out other moms who understood what I was going through. These connections became a lifeline, reminding me I wasn't alone. It also meant being intentional about nurturing my relationship with my partner. Date nights, even if they were just at home after the baby was asleep, became crucial for us to reconnect as a couple, not just as parents. Finally, enjoying our family adventures and small outings has been a huge part of feeling like myself. We decided early on that our baby would be a part of our life, not just the center of it in a way that restricted us completely. Whether it's a simple trip to the park, a walk around the neighborhood, or a weekend getaway, seeing the world through her eyes has added so much joy and a fresh perspective. These moments, big and small, remind me that while my identity has expanded to include "mom," the core of who I am is still there, enriched by this incredible new chapter. It's a continuous journey of self-discovery, adaptation, and immense love.

I started to feel like myself when she turned about a year old. I think breastfeeding was the main reason. I continued until she was 17 months but the pressure was off since they don’t need it past a year!
