There’s been a lot of buzz around this newer energy drink brand, and I’ve been seeing it pop up in more stores recently. There was a pretty big selection of flavors, which was interesting… to say the least. I ended up choosing the two flavors that seemed the least overwhelming to me: Cherry Twist and Strawberry Sunrise.
Got these two cans on sale for $4
🍒 Cherry Twist
The first sip hit me like a truck with how sweet it was. It has a cherry flavor similar to Cherry Pepsi, but with a little bit of lime. I liked the lime, but the artificial cherry taste and extreme sweetness kind of threw me off.
🍓 Strawberry Sunrise
This one tasted less like a mouthful of candy right away. I could taste strawberry, but the orange flavor really stood out more. I preferred the fresher taste of this one, but the sweetness still lingered in my mouth.
I’m noticing a pattern here since all of these flavors lean very candy-like, which just isn’t for me. A good energy drink I’d recommend instead is the flavored Red Bull line. My favorite is the elderflower one, but it’s currently out of stock in a lot of places. Wild Berry and Strawberry Apricot are solid too, and most of the line has a lighter, more refreshing taste without being overly sweet. I got 3 cans for $8, so ever so slightly higher in price but more worth it in my opinion.
Overall, I probably wouldn’t want to try Alani again.
... Read moreAfter sharing my initial thoughts on Cherry Twist and Strawberry Sunrise, I've been thinking a lot more about the whole Alani Nu energy drink line! It's one of those brands that just exploded in popularity, and every time I walk down the energy drink aisle, I see even more vibrant cans calling out. It really makes you wonder, with so many options, how do you pick the right one for you, especially if you're like me and not always a fan of super-sweet drinks?
I've noticed from buzzing online communities and friends that Alani Nu really leans into those fun, often nostalgic, candy-inspired or dessert-like flavors. It’s not just Cherry Twist and Strawberry Sunrise that go for that bold, sweet hit. Take their famous Cosmic Stardust, for example – people rave about its fruity, almost gummy-bear like taste! Or what about the popular Hawaiian Shaved Ice? That one promises a tropical, icy treat experience, and again, sweetness is usually a big part of the appeal. And yes, for those wondering about the 'peach' flavors, Alani definitely has some beloved peach options, like their Peach Please or Peachy Vibe, which often get praised for their authentic peachy taste, though still typically on the sweeter side. It seems to be a signature of the brand – that strong, sweet, fruity punch.
If you're new to Alani Nu or curious to try more beyond the two I reviewed, my advice would be to think about what kind of sweet profile you usually enjoy. Do you love a sour gummy? Then maybe something like their Sour Gummy flavor would be up your alley. Are you into classic fruit punch vibes? They likely have a flavor for that too. On a recent trip to the supermarket, I saw shelves absolutely packed with Alani, from Arctic White to Blue Slush, each promising a unique, vibrant taste. It's a bit overwhelming, but also exciting! It's clear they've mastered creating a diverse range of options, ensuring there's seemingly an Alani for every sweet craving.
One thing I've realized is that while the sweetness might not be my personal preference, it's definitely a huge part of Alani's appeal for many. For people looking for a taste experience that feels more like a treat than a traditional energy drink, Alani hits the mark. It's almost like having a dessert and an energy boost all in one can! Some friends have told me they love to drink them chilled or even over ice to cut down on the initial sweetness, which is a great tip for anyone who finds them a bit too intense straight from the can. This can really open up the flavor profile and make it a more refreshing experience.
For me, the key takeaway from trying Alani Nu is understanding its place in the energy drink world. It's definitely catering to a demographic that enjoys a sweeter, more dessert-like or candy-inspired beverage. If you prefer something tart, herbal, or less sugary, you might need to explore other brands (like my go-to Red Bull suggestions for something lighter!). But if you have a sweet tooth and want an energy boost with a fun flavor profile, diving into the diverse world of Alani Nu could be a delightful adventure. Just be prepared for that sweetness to shine through in almost every can! What Alani Nu flavors have you tried and loved – or perhaps, not loved so much? It's always fascinating to hear different taste experiences and discover new favorites!
I love Alani!
