Here are the books that I would like to read in March! I’ve been in a little bit of a book slump lately so I might not get to all of them but hopefully I will!
... Read moreIt's so tough when you're in a book slump, isn't it? Building a March TBR then feels like an even bigger task! I’ve been there, staring at my shelves, wanting to read but just not feeling it. What I've found really helps is to mix things up and think about why I read in the first place. For me, reading is about escape, learning, and pure enjoyment, and sometimes you just need to remind yourself of that.
One thing I always try to do is include a variety of genres in my TBR pile. When I’m feeling stuck, a gripping thriller or a twisty mystery is often exactly what I need to pull me back in. Books with a strong plot and compelling characters, like 'Dark Matter' by Blake Crouch, are perfect for that – they grab you from page one and don't let go! Similarly, a Young Adult mystery like 'The Final Gambit' can offer that quick-paced, addictive read that reminds you how much fun reading can be. If you're struggling, maybe try picking up something completely different from your usual reads. Perhaps a literary classic like 'The Great Gatsby' for a beautiful prose experience, or a fantastical escape like 'A River Enchanted' if you need to journey to another world. Broadening your horizons can often reveal hidden gems that reignite your passion.
Beyond genre, I have a few go-to strategies for beating the dreaded reading slump. Firstly, don't pressure yourself to finish a book if it's not working for you. It's perfectly okay to put it down and try something else. Life's too short to force yourself through a book you're not enjoying! Secondly, try reading in different formats. An audiobook for your commute, or an e-reader for late-night reading, can sometimes make a huge difference. I've found that simply changing the medium can make reading feel fresh again. Also, setting small, achievable goals, like reading just 15-20 minutes a day, can really help build momentum without feeling overwhelming. Don't underestimate the power of consistency, even in small doses.
Another great tip is to engage with the reading community. Browsing book communities online, watching 'book haul' videos, or even just chatting with friends about what they're reading can reignite that spark. Seeing others excited about books is contagious! I always keep an eye out for trending reads or books that keep popping up on my feed. There's usually a reason certain books become popular – they often have that 'it' factor that hooks readers. Even if it's a genre I don't usually read, if enough people are raving about it, I might give it a shot. Remember, reading should be an enjoyable escape, not a chore! So, fill your March TBR with books that genuinely excite you, whether they're fast-paced thrillers, intricate fantasies, or timeless classics. The goal is to rediscover the joy of turning pages. Happy reading, fellow bookworms!
