Our Home Renovation
My husband and I lived in a small town with no stoplights that we loved. Our neighbors were all elderly and sweet.
However, our children went to school about 30 minutes away and were in activities so we were rarely home and drove constantly. Not to mention, we were completely outgrowing our space. Thus our home hunt began. We kept hitting dead ends. This market is ROUGH. Not enough rooms, too much money, too crowded, not a great area, etc. I remember seeing this one right as it hit the market but we weren't able to see it in person for 2 weeks with different reasons by the sellers. The only photo on the listing was of the outside. Our realtor told us the selling realtor said it was,"in rough shape." We took a look, prayed on it with our families, and knew it was the one.
After a lot of blood, sweat, and tears this run down house is now our home.

Though initially desiring dark flooring was difficult to achieve, our eventual solution – skillfully installed by family – showcases the value of collaboration and resourcefulness in DIY home projects. Moreover, temporarily relocating and staying with family during construction highlights the emotional and logistical commitment often required during home transformations. The journey from an uninviting property to a comfortable, personalized family home demonstrates the rewards of perseverance, adaptability, and thoughtful planning in renovation projects. This story underscores how embarking on a home renovation can not only fulfill spatial needs but also foster creativity and resilience, turning a challenging real estate purchase into a heartfelt sanctuary.
Great job!! As long as the bones of the house are good, plumbing and elec, everything else is cosmetic and can be corrected over time.
