私が『骨灰』で一番ゾッとしたのは、「怪異が特別な場所だけの話じゃない」ってところ。渋谷の地下、しかも再開発の現場っていう“今の東京”のど真ん中が舞台だから、読んでる最中に現実の街の景色まで薄気味悪く見えてきました。ホラー小説の新刊を探していて、都会×地下×儀式の組み合わせが好きな人にはかなり刺さると思います。 あと、作中で触れられる火除地（江戸の大火の延焼防止の空き地）みたいな歴史ネタが、怖さの説得力を底上げしてるのも好みでした。「そういう背景がある土地なら、何かあってもおかしくないかも…」って勝手に想像しちゃう感じ。秋葉原が火除地だった、という話も私は初耳で、ホラーなのに妙に勉強になった気分。 読み心地としては、“じわじわ不穏→一気に現象が加速”の波がしっかりあります。主人公にイラッとする場面もあるんだけど、その分「早く気づいて…！」って感情が乗ってページをめくる手が止まらなかったです。合理的に説明できそうでできない、でも完全にオカルト一本にも寄り切らない絶妙なライン。 個人的に怖かったキーワードは、地鎮祭・お祓い・祭祀場・人柱あたり。現代でも当たり前に残ってる儀式が、物語の中では“別の意味”を帯びて見えてくるのがイヤ〜な感覚で最高でした。「昔は本当にあったのかも」からの「じゃあ今は…？」って考えだすと、読み終わってからもしばらく引きずります。 これから読む人向けのコツとしては、夜に一気読みもいいけど、私は帰宅途中に渋谷方面のニュースや再開発の写真を見ないようにしました（笑）。読後に現実の地下通路が怖くなるタイプのホラーなので、夏の涼み読書としてはかなり優秀。 角川文庫の夏フェア2025の帯付きで、応募券でプレゼント（トートバッグ、アイピロー、図書カード）に応募できるのも地味にうれしいポイント。ホラー小説の新刊を買う予定があるなら、帯は捨てずに取っておくのがおすすめです。
