Things I would Tell My Younger Self

2025/1/9 Edited to

... Read moreWhen I think about my younger self looking at me now, I truly believe she’d be proud, and maybe a little surprised, at who I've become. It wasn't always easy, and there were so many moments I wished I had a crystal ball to tell me everything would eventually fall into place. If I could sit her down and share what really helped me 'become that girl,' these are the deeper truths I’d whisper. One of the biggest lessons I learned, often the hard way, is that it will all work out. There were countless nights I cried myself to sleep, convinced that a dream was shattered or a challenge was insurmountable. But time and time again, I saw how things realigned, how closed doors led to open windows, and how every setback became a setup for something better. For me, a huge part of this trust came from my faith. Trusting Allah SWT gave me an inner peace, a calm assurance that there was a bigger plan, even when I couldn't see it. It wasn't about passively waiting, but about doing my best and letting go of the outcome, knowing that divine timing often has a better path than my own impatient plans. Another crucial piece of advice I'd give is to truly prioritize focusing on self-care, not just as a luxury, but as a necessity. In my younger years, I often put everyone else's needs before my own, thinking it was selfish to take time for myself. I learned that self-care isn't just bubble baths (though those are great!); it's setting boundaries, saying no when you need to, nourishing your body with good food, moving in ways that feel good, and protecting your mental space. For me, this looked like dedicating time each week for journaling, short walks in nature to clear my head, and learning to meditate even for just five minutes a day. These small acts compounded over time, helping me build resilience and a stronger sense of self, which is essential for thriving. My younger self was so worried about being perfect, about making mistakes. I’d tell her to embrace the messiness of life. Growth isn't linear, and mistakes aren't failures – they're just lessons in disguise. The 'girl' I've become isn't flawless; she's someone who understands that vulnerability is strength, and that continuous learning is the most beautiful journey. Don't be afraid to try new things, to fail, to get back up, and to learn from every experience. Each stumble contributes to the unique fabric of who you are becoming. Finally, I’d emphasize the importance of your circle. My younger self often clung to relationships that didn't serve her, out of loyalty or fear of being alone. I’ve learned that the people you surround yourself with profoundly impact your energy and your trajectory. Seek out those who uplift you, inspire you, and challenge you to be better. It’s okay to outgrow friendships, and it’s okay to choose your peace over people-pleasing. Building a strong, supportive community was key to my transformation and helped me truly flourish into the person I am today. So, if my younger self is reading this, know that you're on a magnificent journey. Trust the process, take care of your spirit, and remember that every experience, good or bad, is shaping you into the incredible woman you are destined to be. You've got this!

There was once a younger version of you who prayed for the life you’re living now. She prayed for healing. She prayed for peace. She prayed to make it through the hard seasons. She prayed to become the person God was calling her to be. And even if you don’t feel “there” yet, take a moment
