My meditation station!!
There’s always time to make something good, out of what you didn’t like before. Hope this inspires you guys to find a little spot to put things that matter to you, or to show yourself more self love! Remember there’s always a way to make things work for you even if it feels impossible. I had this closet filled with my family memorabilia for 2 years, now this is extremely sentimental and sensitive to me because I have all my brother and my moms photos and memorabilia from them moving from OH to FL and KY. Besides them, I had my Dads old pictures and memories in there as well and and I finally last night got the nerve to not only tackle it, but to reorganize and properly store it into bins I cleaned out. I FINALLY got to stack them in the back of the dining room where I wanted them to go originally and reclaimed my space in the most positive way! I’m immensely proud of myself and astonished at how much I completed in like 5 hours. Anyways if you got this far thank you for reading I hope you find this helpful in some way🥀🌹💞 #redecorating #meditation #closet #springcleaning #repurposing #restart #reclaimyourspace #inspiration #cleaninginspiration #decorinspiration
Inspired by my own journey of reclaiming a cluttered closet, if you're dreaming of a peaceful escape but think you lack space, let me tell you, it's absolutely possible! Creating your own "Zen Den" doesn't require an extra room; sometimes, the perfect spot for reflection is right under your nose – or, in my case, right in my closet! Why a Closet for Your Zen Den? Many of us live in smaller homes or apartments where an entire dedicated meditation room is just a fantasy. This is where a closet shines! It offers a natural sense of enclosure, privacy, and quiet, making it an ideal candidate for a meditation closet. It’s a space often overlooked, but with a little intention, it can become your personal sanctuary, a true haven for mindfulness and peace. This transformation isn’t just about physical space; it’s about creating mental space for yourself. Getting Started: Declutter and Define Your Purpose Just like I had to tackle years of cherished family memorabilia, your first step will likely be clearing out your chosen closet. This isn't just about making physical room; it’s a symbolic act of making mental space for your practice. Be honest about what you truly need in your meditation space. In a small area, less is often more. Once cleared, consider what makes you feel calm and centered – this will guide your design choices. Designing Your Sanctuary: Small Space Meditation Room Ideas Here are some practical tips for creating your cozy Zen Den: Comfort is Key: A comfy cushion, a thick yoga mat, or even just a soft throw with some pillows can make all the difference. I layered a soft rug and some floor cushions to make my space extra inviting and comfortable for sitting to meditate. Mindful Lighting: If your closet has natural light, utilize it! Otherwise, soft, warm artificial lights are perfect. I’m still gathering batteries for mine, but fairy lights strung around the perimeter, a small battery-operated lamp, or a Himalayan salt lamp can create a magical, calming glow. Avoid harsh overhead lighting. Sensory Elements: Engage your senses. Think about scents: a diffuser with lavender or sandalwood essential oils, or a simple, unscented candle can transform the atmosphere. What about textures? A soft rug, a knitted blanket, or smooth wooden elements – things that feel good to touch – can enhance the serene vibe. Minimalist Decor: Keep decor minimal but meaningful. A small, easy-care plant, a smooth stone, a photo that brings you peace (just like my treasured family photos, once neatly stored away!), or a small piece of art can personalize your space without cluttering it. Remember, this space is about clearing your mind, so avoid anything that adds visual noise. Sound and Privacy: Some people love absolute silence; others prefer soft instrumental music, guided meditations, or nature sounds. Experiment to see what helps you meditate best. A simple curtain across the closet opening can enhance the feeling of seclusion and help you fully disconnect from the outside world. Make It Your Own Personal Haven The beauty of a DIY meditation space, especially one in a cozy closet, is that it's entirely yours. It's a reflection of your commitment to self-love and inner peace. Don't feel pressured to make it perfect overnight. My own space took time and effort, but the feeling of accomplishment and the daily peace it brings is priceless. It's about progress, not perfection. So, if you're pondering how to create a meditation space or looking for home meditation room ideas that truly fit your life, consider that forgotten closet! It might just be the perfect Zen Den waiting to happen. You deserve this peaceful sanctuary.
