How do you exfoliate throughout the week?

Fourth Ray Beauty has my heart. Their skincare is one of my favs, and the cost isn’t bad at all! As someone with sensitive skin, I never thought I’d be able to use any exfoliating or stripping products, but this is the only product line that hasn’t given me a terrible reaction!

I skin cycle throughout the week, so these products have lasted me about 4 months, and I probably won’t need to order again until next month at the earliest and that’s only for certain products! I try to line this up with Sundays, but sometimes the days get shifted around a bit depending on how busy and/or motivated I am as well as what my skin is doing!

Any extra product just gets pressed into my neck, but a little truly goes a long way so I’ve really been enjoying this brand and what’s it’s done for my skin. Aside from the occasional breakout in times of stress (like right now, that pimple over my lip is ANGRY), my skin stays clear and this has helped erase a lot of my skin texture! Of course, I’m also a big sunscreen girl, at least on my face and neck, because this makes my face more vulnerable to UV but I have no complaints overall.

What do you use for your skincare? Any recommendations?

... Read moreAs someone with sensitive skin, I know the struggle is real when it comes to finding the right exfoliation routine. For a long time, I actually avoided exfoliating because I was terrified of irritation, redness, or making my skin even more reactive. But I've learned that gentle, weekly exfoliation is actually key to achieving that smooth, clear skin we all dream of, especially when you're dealing with texture or occasional breakouts. One common question I see is, "Do I wash my face after exfoliating?" And the answer really depends on the type of product you're using. If you're like me and love a good mask, something like an enzyme mask (like the 'A-HA MOMENT exfoliating enzyme mask' I've used) is typically a rinse-off product. You apply it, let it sit for the recommended time, and then wash it off to reveal brighter skin. However, if you're using an exfoliating toner or an exfoliating serum, these are usually leave-on treatments. You apply them after cleansing and before your moisturizer, and you don't rinse them off. The key is to always read the product instructions! For an 'exfoliate cream,' it's usually a leave-on product, sometimes even designed for overnight use, and you'd just cleanse your face as usual the next morning. For my sensitive skin, I've found that incorporating an exfoliating toner or a gentle exfoliating serum a couple of times a week, as part of my skin cycling, works wonders. I always make sure these products contain ingredients that are effective but not overly harsh, focusing on improving 'smooth skin' and tackling any signs of 'acne' without causing a flare-up. The Fourth Ray Beauty exfoliating toner and serum I use are perfect for this. They gently slough away dead skin cells, helping to reduce texture and keep my pores clear. I've also found that these products make my subsequent 'Post Shower Skincare' steps, like moisturizing, much more effective because my skin can absorb everything better. My personal tip for anyone with sensitive skin looking to introduce weekly exfoliation is to start slow. Maybe just once a week, and then gradually increase if your skin tolerates it well. Listen to your skin! If you're feeling any excessive tingling, redness, or discomfort, it's a sign to ease up or try a different product. And seriously, don't forget the sunscreen! Exfoliated skin is more vulnerable to sun damage, so a good SPF in the morning is non-negotiable, especially after using any exfoliating toners or serums. It's all about balancing effective treatment with protecting your skin barrier. What are your go-to gentle exfoliants?
