All I’m hearing is Monster from EPIC

I had to give this a shot and see what it had to say! Needless to say I felt a little called out. My perfectionism and need to keep a goal set to continue pushing forward has definitely at play recently, which I wasn’t expecting see when I took this little quiz!

What monster did you get?

I tend to look forward to the future rather than living in the present. I set too many expectations for the future that by the time the event I was looking forward to arrives, my excitement is "stale" and I'm let down from the long anticipation.

... Read moreIt's amazing how a simple Halloween quiz can hold a mirror up to our innermost traits, isn't it? Just like my recent result, ‘Curdled Candy,’ these fun seasonal challenges often tap into deeper aspects of our personalities that we might not always acknowledge. When I saw my "inner monster" described as "Curdled Candy," it really resonated with my tendency towards perfectionism and constantly looking to the future. It’s like the quiz knew I often find my excitement for upcoming events feeling "stale" because of my own high expectations! This 'Curdled Candy' trait perfectly sums up what happens when we're so focused on achieving a perfect future that we forget to savor the present. We build up these grand scenarios in our heads, and by the time they arrive, the anticipation has curdled into a kind of muted disappointment. It's a common struggle, especially for those of us who are driven and goal-oriented. While ambition is great, it can sometimes steal the joy from the 'now.' According to some insights on controlling your "inner monster," one key is truly living in the moment and not pressuring life to be perfect. This advice hits home for anyone who finds themselves constantly chasing the next big thing, only to feel a little let down when it finally happens. Perfectionism, in particular, can be a sneaky "inner monster." It whispers that nothing is ever quite good enough, pushing us to strive for an unattainable ideal. While it can fuel success, it also breeds anxiety, self-doubt, and often, a reluctance to start anything unless we're sure it will be flawless. I've personally found myself delaying projects or experiences because I was waiting for the "perfect" time or the "perfect" conditions. But life rarely offers perfect conditions, does it? The beauty often lies in the imperfections, the unexpected detours, and the lessons learned along the way. So, how do we tame this "Curdled Candy" monster or any other inner critic that keeps us from truly enjoying our lives? Embracing the present moment is a powerful first step. It’s about consciously shifting our focus from what will be to what *is*. Simple practices like mindfulness can make a huge difference. Taking a few minutes each day to genuinely notice your surroundings, the taste of your food, or the feeling of sunlight on your skin can ground you. It helps create a buffer against the constant pull of future planning and past regrets. Another crucial aspect is to release the pressure of perfection. We often hear about "progress, not perfection," and there's so much truth to it. Instead of aiming for a flawless outcome, try to focus on the effort and the learning process. Celebrate small victories and be kind to yourself when things don't go exactly as planned. Remember that every experience, even those that don't meet our highest expectations, offers valuable growth. These Halloween quizzes, while lighthearted, can serve as a fun prompt for self-reflection. They encourage us to think about our inherent traits and how they influence our daily lives. Whether your "inner monster" is a 'Curdled Candy' like mine, or something entirely different, understanding it is the first step towards managing it. It’s about recognizing patterns, acknowledging our quirks, and then gently guiding ourselves towards a more balanced and fulfilling way of living. So, next time you come across a fun personality quiz, embrace the insights it offers – you might just learn something profound about your own unique "monster" and how to live a richer, more present life, especially during the spooky season and beyond!
