What’s the hardest lesson you’ve learned?

Growth is hard, and it can hurt. I can at least say that for me, it has hurt ~a lot~ and I’ve had plenty of hard lessons thrown in my face over the last few years. This year has definitely brought me a handful of hard lessons and realities that I didn’t think I’d face.

Not every lesson has been hard though! Some are gentle reminders and things that push me in the right direction without putting my mental health in a precarious situation where I’m hurt in the process.

And I know I’m not done growing yet! There’s plenty of room left for more lessons and things to know to make me the best version of myself without losing myself in the process!

... Read moreThat feeling when you realize you don't mean as much to someone as you thought... it's truly one of the most heartbreaking and disorienting experiences. I've been there, and let me tell you, it hits different. It's not just about the other person; it challenges your perception of the relationship, your self-worth, and sometimes, even your judgment. When this hard lesson hits, the first thing I learned is to acknowledge the pain. Don't try to brush it off or pretend it doesn't sting. It's okay to feel sad, angry, confused, or betrayed. This realization often comes after a period of subtle cues or perhaps a sudden, undeniable moment. It could be a friend who consistently cancels plans, a partner who seems distant, or even a family member who prioritizes others over you. Whatever the context, that 'aha!' moment can feel like a punch to the gut. For me, PROTECTING MY MENTAL HEALTH & CONTINUING TO GROW became my absolute priority. It wasn't about trying to force someone to see my value; it was about reaffirming it for myself. One of the biggest shifts was understanding that BOUNDARIES ARE HEALTHY. Before, I might have overextended myself, always being the one to reach out, to make an effort, hoping to bridge a gap that wasn't there from their side. Now, I understand that healthy boundaries aren't about building walls, but about creating space for respect – both for myself and for what I'm willing to accept in a relationship. It's about recognizing when someone consistently shows you through their actions that you're not a priority, and then choosing to respond in a way that honors your own well-being. Another profound insight came from embracing SILENCE ALLOWS FOR GROWTH. In the past, I'd fill every quiet moment with overthinking, replaying conversations, or strategizing how to regain someone's attention. But I discovered that stepping back, allowing for silence, and truly listening to my own inner voice created a space for clarity. It allowed me to process emotions without external noise or pressure. This period of quiet reflection helped me to disconnect from the narrative I wished was true and face the reality of the situation. It's in these quiet moments that you start to hear what your gut is telling you. And speaking of gut feelings, learning to TRUST YOUR GUT has been monumental. Often, we get those little whispers or red flags long before the full realization hits. We might try to rationalize them away, make excuses for others, or convince ourselves we're overreacting. But that innate sense often knows the truth. When you realize you don't mean as much to someone, it's often a confirmation of what your gut has been trying to tell you for a while. Honoring that intuition in the future can save you a lot of heartache. This journey isn't easy, and it definitely hurts, as the article mentions. But it's also an incredible catalyst for self-discovery and resilience. It forces you to re-evaluate who you invest your energy in, what you truly deserve, and how you define your own worth, independently of anyone else's perception. It's about shifting your focus from what you lack in someone else's eyes to the immense value you hold within yourself. Remember, your worth isn't dictated by how much you mean to one specific person. It's inherent, and you deserve relationships where your value is not just recognized, but celebrated.

all these are hard lessons! for me creating boundaries and saying no have been rough and I have lost many because of it. I know it's for the better but it's still a hard pill to swallow that people you loved only were around for their benefit. YOU GOT THIS continue learning and growing

Growth and healing isn’t linear ❤️ I love that you’re self aware and able to understand that you deserve healing even if it means pushing through the hard. ❤️
