Day in the Life✨🤩
Concealer is saving me right now! I’m trying to stay positive and motivated as I round out the semester, but the exhaustion is truly overwhelming I must say. I’m excited for Thanksgiving break and then winter break right after. It’ll be a much-needed break from the constant studies and getting sleep in for real and not call 7am a long lie-in.
Weekends are when it’s hardest to find motivation, which is why you’ll see me on campus most days because if I let myself stay home, I absolutely won’t be productive. This way I’m holding myself accountable and taking active steps to ensure I’m doing what I need to each day!
Sundays are busier than Saturdays since I spend most of Saturday decompressing and getting a lot of life’s to-dos done like laundry and groceries and things for the week ahead! And then as a treat on Sundays, I almost always get sushi! It’s an incentive to make sure I am productive so I can convince myself to be motivated even when I don’t want to be!
How are you fairing with the end of the semester and the end of the year quickly approaching?

Okay, fellow busy bees, if you're a med student like me, you know the struggle is REAL, especially when semester end looms. My Sunday routine might look structured, but behind the scenes, it's a constant battle against exhaustion and the siren call of my bed! That feeling of needing to be on campus to be productive? Totally relate! My early departure helps me get into the zone. I've found that setting up dedicated 'study zones' even at home, or scheduling study sessions with classmates, can be a game-changer. It’s like tricking your brain into 'work mode.' For those 12:00 pm lecture breaks, instead of just aimlessly scrolling, I try to use that time for quick email checks or even a 15-minute power nap if I'm really fading. It makes a huge difference later when 5:15 pm rolls around and I'm still powering through lab practice. The concealer is definitely my best friend right now! It's so easy to push sleep aside, but I've realized proper rest is non-negotiable. After a long day of tutoring and everything else, my 10:50 pm wind-down routine is crucial. I try to put away screens an hour before bed, maybe read a physical book, or listen to a calming podcast. It really helps me transition from 'med student brain' to 'sleep mode' so I'm not just staring at the ceiling, replaying my entire day's activities. My Saturday 'decompress and catch up' day is vital. Doing laundry and groceries then truly sets me up for a productive Sunday. And that sushi treat? It's not just food; it's a mental reward. It trains my brain: 'You worked hard, now enjoy this!' What are your go-to rewards? I've heard some friends swear by a quick coffee shop visit at 10:00 am or a short walk before afternoon study sessions to break up the intense focus. The fear of finals is a constant companion, especially when you're doing more tutoring and lab practice. My strategy? Breaking down big tasks. Instead of 'study for finals,' it's 'review anatomy for 1 hour,' then 'practice clinical skills for 30 mins.' It makes the mountain feel like a series of hills. And honestly, calling my mom, as I did around 8:00 pm, is such a simple yet powerful way to de-stress. Just hearing a familiar voice, talking about anything other than med school for a few minutes, recharges me for the final push. How do you guys manage the end-of-semester pressure? It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and remembering to celebrate small wins, like making it through another Sunday, is key. We got this!

fellow med student!! you got this ❤️
