Alex makes a large print for the Sacramento Kings
Sacramento keeps beaming! The NBA basketball season is underway and we here at the Sacramento History Museum are, of course, rooting for the home team! For the Beam Team, Alex letterpress printed something for the Sacramento Kings.
We had to get out some large (15 line pica) wood type that was made in the late 1880s by the Hamilton Wood Type Company for this occasion. The typeface is French Clarendon. The text reads “GO KINGS LIGHT THE BEAM!” The beam appears over the Golden 1 Center when the Kings win. This was printed with purple rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, made in 1852.
