Today I chose me
For a long time… I stayed quiet.
I went along with things I didn’t agree with.
I allowed things that made me uncomfortable.
I ignored moments that didn’t feel right.
Not because I didn’t feel it—
but because I didn’t want to hurt anyone else.
I watched people speak freely…
share how they felt… even when it affected me—
and I still chose silence.
Because I knew what it felt like to be hurt,
and I never wanted to be the reason someone else felt that way.
But in the process…
I kept choosing everyone else over me.
And today… I chose me
Not out of anger.
Not out of spite.
But out of growth.
Out of peace.
Out of finally understanding that my voice matters too.#protectyourpeace #healingjourney🧘🏾♀️ #healingquotes #healing #boundariesarebeautiful
Choosing yourself is often a challenging but liberating experience that many of us can relate to. For years, I found myself prioritizing others' feelings and comfort over my own needs, much like the author’s reflection on staying silent to avoid hurting others. This mindset, while rooted in care and empathy, can lead to suppressing our own voice and compromising personal peace. In my own journey, deciding to say "Today I chose me" marked a pivotal moment. It wasn’t about selfishness or anger but about honoring my growth and setting healthy boundaries that protect my mental and emotional well-being. The phrase "I chose self-respect over approval" truly resonates as it emphasizes that seeking validation from others can sometimes cost us our authenticity and peace. Setting boundaries is not just beneficial; it's necessary. It allows us to create space for self-healing and to focus on our dreams and future without guilt or fear. Trusting the process, sometimes by praying over plans and letting go of fear, enables us to embrace faith in a bigger plan that values our worth. What helped me along this healing journey was acknowledging that my voice matters. Speaking my truth, even when it risks discomfort or disagreement, is a step toward personal freedom. Encouraging yourself to prioritize growth over approval requires courage but ultimately leads to a more peaceful and purposeful life. If you're struggling with putting yourself first, remember it’s not selfish—it’s a necessary act of self-love. Protecting your peace by choosing yourself allows you to prosper in all areas of life with clarity and confidence. Keep choosing you, every day, and watch how your life transforms with renewed strength and purpose.
