Has anyone else gone no contact with someone and then started feeling guilty like maybe you did something wrong?
That’s where I’m at.
I’ve dealt with the same things for years—same behavior, same disrespect, same cycles, and honestly I got tired. Tired of explaining myself, tired of hoping things would change, tired of being the only one trying.
At some point I had to accept that I can’t change anyone else. I can only change me.
So I started setting boundaries. I started choosing peace. I started stepping back.
And even though I know it was needed, I still have moments where I feel bad. Like maybe I’m being too harsh or maybe I should’ve just kept dealing with it.

I remember feeling the exact same guilt—wondering if I was too harsh or if enduring the same painful cycles was just part of relationships. But through my own experience, I realized that protecting my peace wasn’t about being mean or giving up; it was about valuing myself enough to break free from patterns that caused harm.
When you say no contact, you might still find yourself battling feelings of doubt or responsibility for things that were never your fault. This internal conflict is completely natural because society often teaches us to prioritize others’ feelings over our own well-being. However, I learned that setting boundaries and stepping back wasn't just necessary—it was a crucial part of my growth and healing.
The power of no contact lies in choosing yourself over endless cycles of hurt and disappointment. It’s a declaration that your peace, self-respect, and mental health are worth more than the exhaustion of trying to change someone who isn’t willing to change. During this journey, I found that affirming my boundaries gave me back control and helped me focus on my own growth.
Remember, it’s okay to feel bad sometimes; those feelings show your humanity and empathy. But don't let guilt overshadow the truth that your peace is priceless. When no contact isn’t about being mean—it's about choosing to love and protect yourself—you're taking a vital step toward healing. If you’re in this space, know you’re not alone, and your journey toward peace is both valid and worthy.
