HOW BIG IS YOUR BABY THIS WEEK?

My baby is the size of a pineapple!!🍍

At 32 weeks pregnant, a baby is developing rapidly and practicing breathing and opening their eyes. They are also gaining weight and putting on a layer of fat.

What is the baby is doing?

•Sleeping: The baby is sleeping with regular sleep cycles.

•Breathing: The baby's lungs are almost fully developed and they are practicing breathing.

•Eye movement: The baby's eyes are starting to open and close, and they can respond to light.

•Swallowing: The baby's esophagus is working and they are swallowing amniotic fluid.

•Gaining weight: The baby is putting on a lot of weight and growing faster than ever.

•Developing memory: The baby's memory is beginning to form.

•Developing nervous system: The baby's brain and nervous system are almost fully developed.

What you might be experiencing:

•Breathlessness: The growing uterus can put pressure on the diaphragm, causing mild breathlessness.

•Vaginal discharge: It's normal to have more vaginal discharge during pregnancy.

•Lightning crotch: Pressure from the growing baby can cause lightning crotch, which is painful but not a sign of labor.

•Backaches and leg cramps: The mother may continue to experience backaches and leg cramps.

I have about 5 weeks left as I’m only going to 37 weeks👀

How big is your baby?

How many weeks do you have left?

Do you feel prepared or unprepared?

... Read moreIt’s absolutely wild to hit the 32-week mark! One day you're tracking your baby's growth from a poppy seed to a blueberry, and then suddenly, boom – they're the size of a pineapple! 🍍 It really makes you stop and think about how much is happening in there. For me, these fruit comparisons aren't just cute; they're a tangible way to connect with my little one, especially when they feel like they're doing somersaults in my belly! At 32 weeks, feeling like your baby is a full-blown pineapple is seriously mind-boggling. It's not just about the size, though. This stage is packed with incredible development. My doctor explained that their lungs are almost fully developed, preparing for that first breath outside. It’s comforting to know they’re practicing their breathing and even opening their eyes, responding to light! I often wonder if they can see the glow from my phone when I'm scrolling at night! The weight gain is also a big one – they're putting on a lot of fat, which is essential for regulating their body temperature after birth. It feels like overnight they went from an apple to an avocado, and now this magnificent pineapple! The memory and nervous system development are also fascinating. It makes you think about all the learning they’re already doing, even before they arrive. On my end, the third trimester has definitely brought its own set of challenges. That 'lightning crotch' sensation? It's real, and it can definitely make you stop in your tracks! I've found gentle stretching and changing positions helps a bit. And the breathlessness is no joke – sometimes just walking up a short flight of stairs feels like a marathon. I try to remind myself it's all because my little pineapple is growing so beautifully and taking up more space! Lots of mamas also experience backaches and leg cramps, so finding comfortable shoes and prenatal yoga stretches have been a lifesaver for me. Tracking their growth with fun fruit sizes, like going from a plum to a nectarine, then a lemon, and eventually to a pineapple at week 32, has made the journey so much more engaging. It helps visualize the incredible progress. It makes me wonder what fruit comparison we'll hit next, though I'm only going to 37 weeks! If you're also around 32 weeks, I'd suggest starting to finalize your hospital bag (if you haven't already!) and thinking about your birth plan. It feels like the finish line is in sight, but there's still so much to prepare for. Hang in there, mamas – we're doing amazing, growing these incredible little humans, one fruit size at a time!
