38 weeks pregnant symptoms…

I am 38 weeks pregnant! I cannot believe we’ve made it this far with everything we’ve overcome. Originally I was only supposed to go to 37 weeks and they’d induce me but since I lost one of my twins, it’s a weekly waiting game on going into labor naturally or them inducing me. Looking like I can go into labor naturally at this point🩵🤍

•I am VERY uncomfortable!

To walking around or lying down I am not comfortable at all at this point. Trying to sleep, I toss and turn all night. I have wider shoulders, I used to be a swimmer, so laying on my sides all night has my shoulders and neck sore in the morning. I’ve tried more pillows under my head and I have a very good body pillow I use as well. But nothing is helping. I can’t wait till I can lay on my stomach and back again!

•Having to pee all the time😫

I have to pee all the time now. I wake up usually 4 times a night just to pee and if I don’t he’s punching my bladder like it’s in his way😒I drink a lot because I’m always thirsty so Ik that doesn’t help, but you have to stay hydrated! During the day I go pee and it feels like 5 minutes later I have to pee again so bad and a couple drops come out.

•The pressure!!

I have so much pressure “down there” now too. Just walking around is painful and it feels better lying down. I’m only 1cm dilated (having dilation checks does not determine when you will go into labor, I refused it at my 37 week appointment but was just curious at my 38 week appointment so I just had her check)

•Heartburn

The heartburn I have now is so intense, I’m popping tums like it’s candy (I don’t go over the daily limit though). I try not to eat anything close to when I’ll be laying down to go to sleep either. But if I can’t fall asleep I find myself hungry and grab a snack😌 I limit spicy foods and anything acidic. Hopefully that means he’s got a full head of hair like my daughter did!

•Colostrum

I’ve been leaking colostrum for a couple months now but lately it’s been a lot! I don’t wear a bra so when I was out and about I leaked right through my sweatshirt! It was a white one too🥲 I plan on breastfeeding so I’m hoping this means I’ll have an amazing supply again. So thankful and blessed I can breastfed because I know many women struggle with supply issues. FED IS BEST! Whether you can’t breastfed or choose not to, mothers should NOT be shamed❤️

•Tiredness

I have been extra tired lately and it’s mostly from the terrible sleep I’ve been getting. But I know tiredness is a normal symptom especially at the beginning and towards the end. I had a burst of energy and was nesting but that came and went.

•Excessive mucus🤮

The last week I’ve had so much more mucus. I haven’t lost my mucus plug yet but all of this has me thinking it might be soon. With my daughter when I lost my mucus plug, I had her 4 days later so idk if losing your plug has much to do with timing of labor. I know women can lose it earlier on and it grows back. But painty liners are my best friend right now😒

I don’t think he’s dropped yet as it feels like he’s in his normal spot and in my ribs. I still get out of breath just talking and walking around.

My belly button is almost gone too! It didn’t disappear with my first baby but, I do weigh about 30lbs less than I did with her so I’m thinking that’s the reason.

I’m so over being pregnant and can’t wait for his arrival. BUT I will not get induced unless I absolutely need to and there’s a medically necessary reason why. I want him to bake in there as long as he can for his development.

And yes I will be getting an epidural again. It might look scary while they are setting it all up with that huge needle but in between contractions at 6cm dilated I didn’t feel the pain of it going in. Just uncomfortable as I’m trying to stay still with the contractions.

Oh yeah, I lost my butt AGAIN? It’s so flat now, I lost it with my daughter too. I can’t wait till I can workout again and just feel better physically and mentally. I’ve been on half bed rest since 21 weeks so I feel like I lost a lot of muscle and my energy level.

✨How many weeks are you?

✨Are you getting an epidural or planning to go natural?

✨What questions do you have for me?😊

... Read moreBeing 38 weeks pregnant is truly a journey of anticipation and, let's be honest, often discomfort! My own experience at this stage has been a mix of excitement and longing for baby's arrival, much like what many of you might be feeling. It's truly the final stretch where every little twinge makes you wonder if *this is it!* One of the most common things people look for at 38 weeks is whether their belly has dropped. For some, this "lightening" feeling happens weeks before labor, making it a bit easier to breathe as the baby's head settles lower into the pelvis. You might notice your baby bump looks physically lower, or you might find it easier to eat a full meal. However, for others (like me right now!), the baby might not drop until labor actually begins, or even during labor itself. Don't worry if your little one is still riding high; every pregnancy is unique! If your baby position at 38 weeks feels high, try some gentle rocking on a birthing ball, or hands-and-knees positions to encourage baby to find the optimal spot. Let's talk about those 38 weeks pregnant symptoms that hit hard. The constant peeing? Oh, I feel you! It feels like a full-time job. While it’s annoying, staying hydrated is crucial. I try to make sure I’m drinking plenty of water during the day and then ease up a bit an hour or two before bed, just to minimize those middle-of-the-night trips. And the pressure down there? It can be intense! For me, lying down helps, but for others, a warm bath or even just shifting positions can offer a little relief. Remember, this pressure can also be a sign that baby is getting ready, so pay attention to any changes or increased intensity. Heartburn has been another unwelcome guest during these last few weeks. I've found that eating smaller, more frequent meals helps a lot. Avoiding spicy or acidic foods, especially close to bedtime, is key. I've also heard wonders about almond milk or a small glass of milk to soothe the burn, if Tums aren't quite doing the trick or you're trying to limit them. It's amazing how much the baby can impact your digestive system! Tiredness, despite the terrible sleep, is also a huge one. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and your body is working incredibly hard. Allowing yourself to rest, even if it’s just a short nap during the day, can make a world of difference. Your body is storing energy for the big event! Many women also experience a "nesting" phase around this time, a sudden burst of energy to clean and organize. Embrace it if it comes, but don't overdo it! Finally, the waiting game for labor is real. You might be watching for signs like losing your mucus plug or increased mucus, which can happen days or even weeks before labor actually starts. Keep an eye out for consistent contractions that get stronger and closer together. Whether you're planning an epidural, like I am, or hoping for a natural birth, remember to trust your body and your medical team. Every part of this 38 weeks pregnant journey, including the anticipation of meeting your little one, is a testament to your incredible strength.
