Surviving the summer with a toddler

Some fun and free activities to keep a toddler entertained. My daughter loves flowers and the outdoors so these activities are great for her. Some kids don’t like the outdoors so it won’t be for everyone and that’s fine.

It finally stoped raining here in NY so we’ve been outside all day! My two tortoises are loving their new enclosure outside and bask in the sunlight.

Hopefully you guys get to enjoy the outdoors too if it’s nice out!

Consider making flower bracelets, which combines creativity and dexterity. Gathering materials like colorful flowers and string can turn this into a fun craft project. Another great activity is creating a flower board. This encourages children to observe different types of flowers while learning about their colors and shapes. Not only does it enhance their appreciation for nature, but it also sharpens observational skills and fosters a sense of accomplishment. Gardening is also an excellent way for toddlers to connect with the earth. Planting seeds or helping to care for plants offers tactile experiences that encourage exploration and patience. Simple tasks like watering or digging can keep toddlers entertained while teaching them responsibility. If you have access to a nearby park, take advantage of its facilities to engage your toddler in play with other children. This social interaction is crucial for their development and allows them to learn sharing and cooperation. With a bit of creativity and enthusiasm, summer days can be filled with joyful experiences that both parents and toddlers cherish.
