Tell me a lyric that touches your soul
I put it on meeeee that I cried the first time I heard this bar/lyric in this song. It was like maybe 8-10 years ago (I honestly don’t feel like sitting here and doing the math to give the actual year 🙄). I’m in El Paso Texas. I’ll never forget. I’m over here on dyer street heading to the east side to hang out etc and this song starts playin on my YouTube lil random mixes it be playing sometimes. At first I was ridin to some old school. You know ima 80s baby so yea I be in the slow lane volume all the way up with every window down. At first I was jammin ‘me against the world’ by my all time fav 2pac. Then next some came on was one I never heard. It was ‘thugz mansion’ but it was the Acoustic Version where the beat just had the guitar 🎸. Booooy let me tell you that guitar hit different when you actually listen to the lyrics and hear what this man was sayin. The part that got me was when Pac said
“and right before I sleep dear God what I’m askin/
Remember this face, save me a place in thugz Mansion/“
💥 boom!!!! Waterfalls 😭 …I’m talkin tears cascading down my brown chocolate face!!! Snot just drippin and sliding down my top lip! Windows still down!!!!!!! Folks driving by prolly thinking I’m having a mental breakdown 😩😩😩😩. I’m over in my mind thinking about the times I did wrong and got away or the times I got caught and was spared with a light sentence or a slap on the wrist. With blurry eyes, doing around 32 miles an hour on dyer st. I literally looked up and said “Lord remember my face and save me a place.”…phew yea my soul was touched. Good job Pac! Felt good to release that emotion and low key pain I held in and didn’t even know about. After word I was smilin and turnt up like it never happened 😅.
