In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel like we must carry every challenge and expectation on our shoulders. From personal struggles to the needs of others, the impulse to be strong often means taking on more than we can handle. But through my own experience, I’ve learned that real strength lies not in bearing every burden, but in recognizing when to let go and embrace rest. There was a time when I believed I had to be the fixer for everyone around me, to always be the reliable one who never faltered. This led to exhaustion and a constant sense of running on empty. Over time, I realized that by trying to hold everything together, I was sacrificing my own peace and wellbeing. It wasn’t until I gave myself permission to step back and trust that some things were beyond my control that I began to find relief. Trusting God to carry the weight I couldn’t manage brought a profound sense of peace. The verse, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28), became a daily reminder that surrender is not defeat but an act of faith and wisdom. When I stopped believing I had to earn love by overextending myself, I started to connect with the woman God was calling me to become—faithful, grounded, and at peace. Choosing peace over pressure allows space for healing and growth. It means saying no when necessary and accepting that you can’t control every outcome. This mindset shift not only lightened my load but empowered me to serve others without losing myself. For anyone struggling under the weight of expectations, I encourage you to reflect on where you might be carrying unnecessary burdens. Rest is not weakness—it’s a vital act of self-care and spiritual trust. By letting go of what was never yours to hold, you make space for true strength, growth, and a deeper connection with God’s guidance on your journey.
